Re: [VIDEO] Diggin' In The Carts

I've been waning. I feel like the music was better, more pure at the earlier stages. Like the video game music stopped being video game music, and instead was just music in a video game, if you get meh. this is an extremely important point, and is at the crux of the discussion regarding many differ...

Re: What monitors do you use when producing?

I usually use a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-M50s to produce and mix on. I occasionally test my mixes on a pair of Pioneer SDJ-05s (bedroom studio) but I'm mostly on the headphones...

Re: OS X Maintenance – How to Clean Up and Speed Up Your Mac

just wondering does anybody here actually own, and therefore have first hand experience, clean my mac 2?

I'm sure that most OSX users are aware that Mac Keeper is something evil to be avoided, but what is the deal with Clean My Mac 2?

Re: Does anyone actually know how grain table synthesis work

I'm probably (obviously...) biased here but I think Malstrom is such a great synth because of the quality of the samples used. I just find the quality of the in-built wavetables to be ridiculously musical.

Re: Trying to wrap my head around Pure Data

you could probably create most of your ideas with Reaktor, however Max may or may not be easier to work with (depending on your preference).

I think Reaktor has a demo, but I know that Max definitely does. try out the 30-day demo. do all the tutorials and then see how you feel!!

Re: Trying to wrap my head around Pure Data

I wouldn't be that knowledgable at all, I just am really interested visual programming environments. I've been using Max for about 3 years now (just before I started college). I had used Reaktor and Pure Data a bit before that. first things first Pure Data and Max could be described for all intents ...

Re: Trying to wrap my head around Pure Data

if you just want to build effects and synths then you might be happier with something like Reaktor (which is kind of focused on these sort of things). but if you want to integrate real instruments into your electronic performances (send data from real world sensors to an application you've made) the...

I'm gonna grab it because I like the dev. he posts on the Renoise forums. I liked the original (although I rarely do glitchy stuff in my music). it was simple and dirty.

Re: Trying to wrap my head around Pure Data

if you're a student you can get the educational version of Max 6 for much cheaper. I like Pure Data but I think that Max is much better for beginners. the amount of inbuilt tutorials and resources available on the web for it are crazy. plus in Max 6 the references and help guides for each object hav...

Re: Getting your house in order AKA Organisation Skills

I used to keep on amassing project files until I had to finish projects for college. a song has to be finished by a deadline, so you have to finish it. I may not be 100% happy with it, but at least it evolved into something and didn't stay as just another loop. now I do what Sharmaji was talking abo...

Re: comparison of VSTs in the context of ableton live

honestly I think the suite (especially in for Live 9) is totally worth it. you get some really cool instruments. you get max4live. and you get gigs of free samples from the Ableton site to get you started (very useful if you're just starting off producing) I actually think that something like Komple...

Re: What do you think about presets ?

it all depends on the individual. a friend of mine in college creates all his songs from loop packs and construction kits. drum loops, melody loops, bassline, random sound fx, everything. he's fine with that. I wouldn't be ok with creating music like that. I try to synthesise the majority of element...

Re: Reason 7

It really just comes down to personal preference. I don't think Reason is that limited anyhow - it's a fairly big program and would take months/years to learn and get the best out of it. exactly. I'm not hearing a lot of groundbreaking music that couldn't be done in Reason/Renoise/Ableton/Cubase, e...

Re: Does this VST exist ?

there is a big difference between fading between two sounds and true spectral morphing. I was working on an electroacoustic piece for college last year and I want to incorporate some spectral morphs into my work. from all the tools I used (random Max patches, Prosoniqs Morph and Alchemy) none seemed...
