Re: Tune IDs (Whats the name of that tune that....)

Sup peeps, need an ID for a tune please, it's in this mix by Reso. http://www.mixcloud.com/resomusic/re...gn=flash_links It's around the 9 minute mark, 9.30 maybe, just before Noisia. Been driving me mad. Such a great mix, but the website for some reason didn't put up the tracklist, which seems a b...

Re: Volume LFO in Ableton??

Hmm not sure, I know operator was updated at some point recently but I can't remember if it was in v7 or v8. Should be the same procedure anyway, just look for LFO B.

Re: Volume LFO in Ableton??

In Operator click on LFO, then on the middle matrix you'll see LFO A linked to oscs ABC and D, as well as filter. Below that there's LFO B which you can click on to choose the destination. Just click on Main Vol and then adjust the lfo and that should work for you.

Re: Any Guitarists in here?

Have recently rediscovered my love of guitar. I play mostly classical stuff, have done practically all my life, but I picked up the electric again the other day and forgot how fun tapping and sweep arepggios and general guitar wankery can be. Classical stuff is amazing though, very inspiring stuff. ...

Re: Latency problems, Live + Novation nio 2¦4

Just listened back to a recording I made on the night, no problems when listening back which makes me think it is the lead I was using. That makes sense, right?

Latency problems, Live + Novation nio 2¦4

Greets all, was playing out the other night and noticed a bit of a drag in audio every now and then. I'm using Live, nio 24, ASIO4ALL drivers and although there were no crackles, every 3/4 minutes there was a small but noticeable amount of latency lasting a second or so. This has never happened befo...

Re: How is a good main synth line made?

If you google a bit and find some info on basic music theory, such as chord progressions and shit, you can get a grasp on that and then you'll find melodies much easier to write. Look into jazz and stuff (although there is a lot to learn here) and just think about the progressions, then write your m...

Re: Beats in 3/4 time

I think you might find it easier if you try to write as 6/8 over 4/4. Not much of a difference but take that last track as an example. You should be able to find a "123 456" beat in there, as well as a "1 2 3 4", counting the beats faster makes it easier for some reason. If the t...

Re: Do you use presets?

As many have said, I wouldn't normally use a preset for a bass/lead, but for pads and other elements that aren't the "main" part of the tune, if it fits I think it's fine. Another good thing about presets is being able to reverse engineer in a way, and if you come across a super sweet soun...

I find that layering some white noise very quietly with the synth can create some sweet sounds, plus bitcrusher.

Re: Do you play an instrument?

Knowing the theory definitely helps in writing songs, but sometimes I feel like it's a curse as well . This might be one of the stupidest things I have ever heard. I have at *least* as much (if not more) theory training as any one else on this board, but it has never been a hindrance in writing or ...

Re: Do you play an instrument?

Knowing the theory definitely helps in writing songs, but sometimes I feel like it's a curse as well . Yeah, it's hard to just kick back and enjoy music now, unless I'm some sort of intoxicated. Otherwise, I'm constantly analyzing everything I hear piece by piece. That normally doesn't bother me, b...
