I'm using reason, and i only say that because you can't use VSTs and all of your downloaded effects like you would know, would it be better to use the thor formant filter + lfo or env mod or use the scream digital filter with lfo? ive tried to use the scream but its a lot harder to make the sound in...

you could try to put a bit of delayed movement on the top end of the bass? so the dynamic changes towards the end, just before the next note hits.
