Your screen resolution is too small. Adjust the resolution, or if it's already at max, buy a new monitor.

Re: Advice for someone starting out
I'm using Massive. I just find it so much more intuitive than the other synths. Once I learn it down to the last 0 and 1 I'll probably branch out some more.

Re: Advice for someone starting out
Thanks for the replies so far. I'm well aware I need put way more time and work into everything, it's just a matter of directing all that effort into something productive, rather than stumbling around blind, which is what I feel like I'm doing at this point. Mouldy, your post helped quite a bit. In ...

Advice for someone starting out
Hi there, I just wanted to introduce myself and maybe get some direction on where to take my learning process. I've only been producing for a few months, and I find myself a bit overwhelmed with all of the information available to me. I was hoping to get some pointers on what to learn first, or any ...

Re: Melody!
Trying not to sound like a preachy dickhead - but i dont know how someone can write songs without knowing basic music theory - shit sounds strange to me... :o Easily, using their ear for music. Music theory is just a way to describe music. Music was there before the theory. If you have any sort of ...

Re: Switching from Reason to Ableton Live
I went from Reason to FL studio and then finally to Ableton, and I found it to be really user friendly. I would never go back. Just go through the manual and provided tutorials, or buy/download some basic tutorials and you will be more than on your way. Stick with the sequencer view for a more tradi...

Re: Filesharers....Who are these people?!
Dubstep producers don't make anything from producing, they make money from getting bookings. More exposure (including illegal downloads) equals more bookings.
Therefore, illegal downloads equals more money for dubstep producers.

Re: question about torq vs. serato
Serato doesn't have any built in effects, but you can buy hardware effects (like a chaos pad, etc). Absolutely not true... the new version of serato (which is free) has soooo many effects that work very well and sound stupidly good. It might be a good idea to get a basic knob-based midi-controller ...

Re: Filesharers....Who are these people?!
Not many people make very much money producing / recording music alone. It's all about live shows if you want the coin.

Re: Filesharers....Who are these people?!
If it wasn't for P2P, my legal music collection would be significantly smaller. I buy more music than most people I know. I also download more music than most people I know. It's try before you buy, and if it is used responsibly, I don't see any problem with it. Now the kiddos who only download and ...

Re: question about torq vs. serato
Torq and Serato only use your CDJs as timecodes. IE, no audio will be coming from the CD decks at all. Therefore your audio effects on your CDJs will never work with a laptop based MP3 DJ setup. Torq comes with its own set of effects, which you will need a MIDI controller to operate, unless you want...

Re: Combining Drum Samples to Create Unique Sounds.
Thanks for the quick replies. It seems pretty obvious to me now. I've done it before by simply using two or more samples in a Drum Rack triggered at the same time, but I really like the simplicity of working with a single audio file. I haven't done much with pure audio in Ableton, and I guess it nev...

Combining Drum Samples to Create Unique Sounds.
I hear a lot of talk about combining multiple drum samples to create a unique sample. I understand that the process involves cutting off each sample at specific points with EQs, but what would I use to accomplish this? Are there any programs well suited to this process? How do you folks go about thi...
