I need new filters
Tired of using WOW, ableton stock filters/EQ, and the filters of massive and FM8. Any good recommendations for new filters?

super notey 200hz Koan Sound snares
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIea0zMPXik I'm wondering what sample pack Koan Sound gets there snares from. I know the whole 200hz snare trick and I use it all the time but mine are more layered and EQ'd to stick out. It seems like the coolest sounding ones are super notey and futuristic sounding. ...

My newest one. Felt like doing a song in the key of Skrillex. Recorded all the guitars myself. Still having trouble with mastering phase (limiting, maximizing and multiband compression). Lemme know what you think

Perfect electro house kicks?
All the pros kicks hit really nice at 55-70hz (depending on the key of the tune). I find this really hard to do. I have almost all the vengeance packs, but there are so many shitty kicks and only a few good ones, and the good ones don't sound professional even after heavy processing. What do you guy...

Re: Can a spectrum analyzer compensate for lack of monitors?
Definitely. This and using reference tracks can be of great help when you don't have good monitors. I produce my tracks with cheap $20 sony headphones but I always get compliments on my production level because I always have 2 or 3 reference tracks at the top and use the spectrum to analyze both the...

Rudebrat - Hallows Eve [Halloween Dubstep]
So I took the melody from the Halloween movies and made some dubstep shit to it. Tell me what you think

Re: Fixing my Sub to work in Clubs
I had your same problem when I first started spinning clubs too, it definitely helps to try your tunes out on a big system. The key of your tune definitely matters. For dubstep it should usually chill around E to Ab, unless you have a melody in a different key that hits those notes a lot. Another tr...

Re: Skrillex reveals details on how he makes his basslines
Wow, a lot of really good info/ideas in this thread. I also stumbled upon this article when it came out and have been experimenting with FM8/Operator and different effects since then. Didnt even know ableton had presets for formants, so thanks for pointing that out ;-) definitely gonna spend all of ...

Re: jazzstep WIP w/ live guitars and a shit ton of resamplin
What do you use to resample? I actually dont use a sampler or anything, I'm too poor to afford kontakt and my cpu probably couldnt handle it. I usually just export my audio to a specific folder then delete the midi track to free up cpu, open an audio track and put the exported audio, then mess with...

Re: jazzstep WIP w/ live guitars and a shit ton of resamplin
I'm really digging the tune, one thing i am hearing personally though is that the guitar is getting lost in the mix. Maybe using some eq to make it a little less muddy, so its a bit clearer. Really liking that melody though thanks, will do :) wow, that's really cool! nice work! :) btw what actually...

Re: Tracks going above 0db
noisia says on their Q&A on the grid that clipping doesnt really matter as long as its not audible, which I think has a lot of truth to it but it's pretty subjective. My buddy will always put a limiter on his master channel so it sits right at 0db and under, but my shit always pushes 4 - 6db. lo...

jazzstep WIP w/ live guitars and a shit ton of resampling
http://soundcloud.com/rudebrat/jazzstep-wip track I'm currently working on; been making too much hectic upbeat dubs and wanted to slow it down a little. recorded a little jazz phrase I wrote and pieced together a bunch of synths I've been resampling. some of those synths have been resampled over 20...
