Re: joy orbison
basically, the label YOUNG TURKS released the XX album which was really neat, loved by loads of people, and got bummed hard by ROugh Trade and braordshet critics. deservedly. the instrumentation was well executed, nicely recorded, and it was lyrically meaningful music. (rare these days). the next th...

Re: Magnetic Man Guardian review
it's not a great review, but Paul Lester knows his shit. there isn't anyone on here who is a greater authority on music than him. yeah, you might know more dubstep tracks than he does, but he sees this thing from a much wider industry perspective than this place and he does have a point. the tracks ...

Yeah; Beethoven and Bach didn't survive without them lyrics Edit; I actually signed up this minute (been checking this forum for ages) just for you. you really wan't to start comparing LVB and JSB to dubstep? fuksake. Where am I comparing anything? I'm just stating that Beethoven and Bach have a lo...

Re: "dubstep : a remix joke genre"
it's not so much *the good stuff*. more the fact that nothing particularly new has been done since those blueprint tunes were made. there are very few dubstep SONGS basically. Magnetic Man is the first musically complete effort so far, but it's very basic stuff. Reminds me of when rave tried to get...

Re: "dubstep : a remix joke genre"
i just personally think there aren't enough musical minds working in dubstep for it to be sustainable. ultimately, it's nothing more than a dance-floor formular, and one that got capitalised on very quickly, so as to turn it into a pardoy of itself. basically, real dubstep died a good few years ago...

Re: "dubstep : a remix joke genre"
as for how i think it's slightly retarded, especialy when compared to the music made by bands such as Friendly Fires, MGMT, Arcade Fire, etc. i don't think i need to explain myself, it should be obvious. The composition in Dubstep tracks just isn't there. People really under estimate the importance...

Re: "dubstep : a remix joke genre"
Dubstep feels very musically naiive right now. Retarded basically. The people making it don't seem to have any song writing ability. If people want it to go anywhere other than instantly disposable records for a club, they need to get into thier song writing. listen to the antisocial show, musical ...

Re: "dubstep : a remix joke genre"
^ @ jupiter h8 --- so if dubstep is formulaic to you and the "good stuff died a few years back" why did you come to join this worldwide dubstep hub (now bigger than ever) so late in 2010? so much great perspective coming from the newer members these days :u: it's not so much *the good stu...

Re: Magnetic Man Guardian review
Kinda prefer Skream by himself really. It doesn't matter that he's not making traditional top-tier type music when he just rolls out dub after dub for dancefloors. Doesn't feel like there's any real Magnetic Man identity. Just Skream with slightly fiddlier production, pop-song track lengths, guest s...

Re: I absolutely encourage more jazzy dubstep
Highly recommend this one: http://www.juno.co.uk/artists/Overcast+Radio/ This isn't just some record with some jazz samples on it. Man is a jazz musician, had extremely gifted musicians in the studio to put this one together. Ace. That's lovely. Does just sound like a load of samples though. I woul...

They are an interesting little crew innit. Only really just picked up on all this after hearing that FACT mix. Can't stop listening to it. I tried searching for other mixes but just got a few dead links to Rinse FM shows. Anyone got any?
