Re: I wanna talk monitors again

I got the Studiospares SN10 Classics (got em for £50)... they sound rubbish, but making tracks on them is really good assuming you can switch back & forth to hi-fi speakers on your amp just the check sub/bass. They magnify mid-range & aren't ported so they work very well in my room (which is...

Re: I want to comepletely reboot my production

I think OP should; Make chill music with some elements of dubstep that he likes. Chill dubstep is nice. I personally have never really done any in-depth sound design as dubstep producers would.. something I did recently was download a hip-hop drum pack & attempt a sample flip & use the drums...

Re: New Laptop for producing

You could possibly try a solid state drive & maxing the memory on your current MBP. Otherwise - yeh just get what you can afford. You could go down the hacktintosh route but it can be a pain in the arse...... my old quad hackintosh is still solid as fuck though & you can fall back on windows...

Re: Stuck on a progression

add some fx / incidentals and fx automations, the make an intro with just building the beat up with fx, drop the bit you've done, I could image a nice swingy hi-hat layer / or ride picking up the energy on the next 8 bars even if the loop was the same.... check danny j lewis' channel for housey type...

Re: Why orchestra doesn't need mixing?

it basically because everything is in tune, all the composite parts are in key for a particular piece of music and not all instruments play at the same time, so tuning & arrangement I guess.

Re: The Ableton Q&A Thread

Just send the original channels (kick and snare) to a send? Or if you can't use a send as a sidechain input but i think you can, you can set the send's output to be another audio channel. Thats what I do aswell, just mute the send & use it as a sidechain input, works fine, and other elements ca...

yep. I read 'the war of art' ... it got a bit religious/annoying near the end - but somehow worth reading esp if you can pick it up cheap.

Re: DSF SAMPLE PACK COMPETITION - 40 // SAMPLE PACK AVAILABL

I noticed theres a lot of silent end parts that could be cut and stereo files with no difference from l and r so they could be mono(half the file size). After hearing that swords sample I immediately thought of Warrior by Calyx and Teebee haha Time was short, sorry ! I did take time to sample bass ...
