It is a grim wee place. No one's heard of it, so I have to say it's near Belfast (30 miles in it), so then everyone says I'm from there instead.

loads of music has diminishing returns whether it has an obvious joke or not, like for example most drop based music quickly loses it's appeal when you can anticipate what's coming after a few listens... i don't think longevity and humour are mutually exclusive.

sorry about that fucking glasgow show, i don't travel with a bass or guitar cos i don't have a flight case for mine, it's normally not a problem but the glasgow promoters hadn't hired one for me for that show. the one they got me at the last minute was pretty much unplayable (as you'd have saw), it ...

no way, you're meant to respond to the forum's demands and tailor your beats to whatever journalists reckon is missing from 'the scene'

It's an interesting argument Kode9's making, that 'schooled' musical knowledge restricts what a musician will risk using since there's a kind of foreknowledge of how 'good' or 'bad' a note or progression will sound. I dunno if I agree to be honest, the decision to sound 'dark' or dissonant is there ...

depth charge is the only producer i can think of who does film samples any justice, it's grim hearing some random quote tacked on to an otherwise dead on track.
