Re: BE A NINJA AND CLICK

Very nice, I'll be back to play loud when it's not 1am with the missus asleep in the next room. That dial-up modem / fax machine sound takes me back a bit!

Re: Legend4ry's sub bass tutorial

Some more tips... Sub bass should be monophonic. If you play 2 sub notes at once, things will get very messy, and you'll have to turn the volume down to stop distortion. Don't forget that decaying notes count too, if (like Reason's Thor) the synth you are using has the ability to add polophony for r...

Re: RADIOHEAD - CREEP (OPTIK REMIX)

I'm struggling against the urge to say 'what the fuck are you doing to a classic track, this is never going to work', as it's a lot closer to working than it has any right to be. Sonically, the snares (especially the big ones) are getting in the way of the vocals, Thom's voice is thin and can't comp...

Re: #1 producer you would like to produce an album with

Trevor Horn Massively influential, working on early rap records with Malcolm McLaren, invented Sampler based-IDM as part of the Art of Noise, produced some of the best selling tracks ever with Frankie Goes to Hollywood and others, made stuff that sounds cutting edge after 20 years (owner of a lonely...

Re: How to keep it interesting

Is it boring because you've been cycling round the same 16 bars making tiny tweaks for half the night? I always have at least 2 tracks in different stages of production. If one seems boring, I switch to the other for a bit. Often, I'll find the first one is fresh and exciting again when I go back. A...

Re: I want a drum randomizer

Reason has the ability to randomise patterns, but it rarely comes up with anything you'd want to listen to. More useful is the 'alter' function - it moves things around and comes up with something a bit random, but based on whatever you started with. Unless you are into venetian snares territory tha...

Re: newcomers -> introduce yourself here

Hello everyone. I'm a middle aged, grey haired tea addict who has been digging around the edges of popular music since the mid 80s, looking for the good stuff that never gets radio play. Why am I here? Well, when I heard "Pinball" by Akira Kiteshi, I immediately jumped on google to find ou...
