Re: EQ boosts and distortion?
Knife party tracks are arranged well, EQed good and have a filled spectrum throughout their songs (compared to the other cliche EDM tracks). The mix as an entire is usually decent (im taking stereo field etc in accordance here too) so when distorting the song/adding or attenuating from it, it's stil...

Re: Image-Line Products: seasonal discounts?
Agreed i really dig sytrus, harmor sounds kinda bad the moment you try to push things further (though i have made a few decent patches maybe)
Also all the long resampling that Seamless etc do in all the Harmor videos never sounds good to my ears, distorted as hell rather

Re: Image-Line Products: seasonal discounts?
Yes they do, its never a set time but iv seen them sell all their plugins at $45 each last year. I got harmor cheaper when it came out but was still over 100 which IMO is still too much. Also lol @ your sig, i get "3rd person" inboxes just like that from soundclouders (so its not just thei...

Free Sine Shaper VST similar to Massive's
I made a sine shaper plugin, somewhat similar to the one in Massive but with my own twist. It's very low in CPU since I care about this (2% on my dual core) and I happen to find it useful for my own purposes, maybe you guys will too? Specially made for brostep basses, reeses, etc. Windows 32 bit onl...

Zero latency 9 band splitter anyone? Free Patcher preset
First of all not my idea but I set up a 9 band splitter which has zero latency & moderate cpu level. There's virtually no change in the audio when fed through dry/wet so its transparent. The advantage of it being latency free means you can use other FX & mix dry/wet signals through the chain...

Re: REQUIRED: Headphone Amp advice for Sennheiser HD 650's
The only thing i disliked about HD 650's was how often i had to replace the wire..
The official detachable wire is shit IMO id suggest using another wire thats actually built to last

Re: Sine Shaper AU (Waveshaper that can make a perfect sine?
Oops i meant bipolar i got them mixed up
Fruity waveshaper might not exactly result in foldback distortion but it can sound very similar when drawing certain shapes in bipolar mode. In unipolar mode I haven't been able to achieve any 'Sine Shaper' like results since i don't think its possible.

Re: Long sustained string sample.. can i has urs?
I think you would like physical modelling synths they are good at making convincing strings (or just layer it with a real sustained string sound)

This^^
Although i deleted my previous post about fruity waveshaper since the OP is on a mac
Foldback distortion will occur in unipolar mode (and aliasing if you don't use oversampling in this mode)

Re: Sine Shaper AU (Waveshaper that can make a perfect sine?
I happen to screw around with distortion algo's but tbf its not necessary.
Look into foldback distortion, its a type of brittle distortion that causes the audio to fold into itself when exceeding the threshold (the results usually sound like FM)
Im certain Massive's sine shaper is just that.

Re: Do you have your own secret production techniques?
Id say avoid technical things often rather than never doing/learning it. I once wanted a certain lead in a song & resampled since i couldnt get it.. I got carried away but made something potentionally better than what i pictured, only it lacked clarity. I started over and made the same sound cle...

Re: Do you have your own secret production techniques?
My secret is stay away from social life (sometimes or maybe a lot if you're serious), forget about tutorials & internet much as possible. Dig deep into your DAW & try to make things sound spot on with just a few fx. Layering things together is always powerful.. so is slicing audio & rear...

Re: Does exporting do anything/
Another reason could be the plugin/s you are using (for example sytrus) is set to render at a higher oversampled rate (a setting like this is usually made visible within the plugin) though this is more specific towards sounds in a song being different rather than an entire track.

Re: Random self generative compositions
Fair enough maybe try Sugarbytes Thesys, its decent and can spew out some catchy stuff. Most other things iv tried are a bit too random in the VST world
@Sunklo thats a neat idea, never thought of that
