I finished a track.
Doesn't sound like much but I rarely manage it!

Re: Multitrack tape recorder
Might sound odd but turn the tape over? As far as I know 4-tracks used both sides of the cassette. I think the full width is normally used for side a left, side a right, side b left and side b right. On a 4-track it uses each bit for a track (not sure how it manages stereo tracks, it's been ages sin...

Re: WORKS IN PROGRESS FOR AUGUST, 2010
Hexa-dB -- Mental bass. Is it layered/resampled or coming straight out of a synth? That's impressive. Thanks :) The bass on the first section started as a Korg Prophecy sound (I think it was a preset "AhaYahYah" or something) with some tweaking of controllers while I recorded it, then it ...

Re: WORKS IN PROGRESS FOR AUGUST, 2010
ok, I'm not much good at giving feedback because I tend to think "Who am I to tell people what's good?". I'm quite new to the whole dubstep thing so my comments may be totally off. I'm also listening through headphones (AKG K270s) which isn't ideal. goldorak - bauhaus -- like the vocal sam...

Re: Large Hadron Collider Sounds
i would have thought the sounds of the large hardon collider would be something akin to a large whale having an orgasm. Yeah they don't quite live up to the description. Shame though, it would be cool to have in a track - "How did you make that bass sound?" "It's a large hadron colli...

This is kind of interesting. It sounds like they've used some fairly tame sounds but the idea is interesting...

I know how you feel - I've got a Roland V-Drum kit under the bed gathering dust. It's been there for over a yeardav.id wrote:I still have a drum kit in the room next door with 10 cm dust on it:)....I just dont have enough room

Oopps. Unfortunately the Soundcloud player doesn't work through my work connection so I'll have to try and add some feedback for people tonight. Sorry about that!dav.id wrote:you need to give 3 tracks feedback before you post youre own tune

Re: WORKS IN PROGRESS FOR AUGUST, 2010
Ok, this my second attempt at a dubstep(ish?) track. I pretty new to it but have been doing various types of dance/breakbeat/dnb/etc off and on for years. I'm pretty sure it'll get filed under 'talentless brostep' (or worse) but I'm prepared for that :D I learned a lot while making it and I'm reason...

Re: Weird Logic Problem- sudden delayed MIDI response
I'm such an idiot. I forgot that I'd added a reverb on a send just before the problem happened - then wanted to EQ the reverb and decided to poke around the linear phase EQ because I've never used it... As soon as I removed it and swapped it for a normal EQ it was fine.
Idiot.
Idiot.

Re: Weird Logic Problem- sudden delayed MIDI response
At the OP - have you got plug in delay compensation on in the preferences? Logic does do some weird things when you try automating a few parameters occasionally (which is well annoying). I'm still using logic but been writing most stuff in ableton recently but that's not perfect by a long stretch e...

Weird Logic Problem- sudden delayed MIDI response
I was working on a track, adding automation for various effects and when I got to the breakdown section I noticed one of the effects sounds was out of sync. I selected the track and manually played it from a keyboard (it's a small EXS24 bank) and got a delay of around 1/16th-1/8th between hitting th...

It took a bit of digging but I just tracked down this table on the Sound on Sound website: VOWEL SOUND AS IN... F1 F2 F3 "ee" leap 270 2300 3000 "oo" loop 300 870 2250 "i" lip 400 2000 2550 "e" let 530 1850 2500 "u" lug 640 1200 2400 "a" la...

Re: *Logic Pro* The history of Logic and (Emagic)
I don't care if it's sad, I've used Logic since v3.5 on the PC and now use v8 on OSX and I enjoyed reading it.
They totally missed out the Audiowerk 2 card though. That card with Logic Audio Platinum on Win98 was my second most stable/useful system (first being my current setup).

Re: Hexdb / HXDB / Hexa-dB
Nope that's not me. I abbreviate it to Hexa-dB most of the time. The annoying thing is that he's obviously better at it than me! The only thing that's been released with my version of that name is a remix on this EP and various mp3s sent to friends/circulated. I used it first but he's better/more fa...

Hexdb / HXDB / Hexa-dB
I've just noticed, when going through the mixes forum, that it looks like there are a few other "Hexa-dB"s. I've been using the name since 1998 (either as Hexa-dB, Hexadecibel or even 0xdB) - gutted  Should I use a different name for my music from now on? How well known is are the oth...

Re: Old And Cheap Hardware?
My first post here so I'll try and make it useful :D May be obvious but If you haven't got a mixer they make things a lot easier. If you gather a lot of external bits (especially if stuff has aux inputs & various sends/returns) then a patchbay can be handy too. At one point the Korg Prophecy was...
