Re: Giving up my job to study Music tech at college.
I don't think it's worth it unless you are serious about getting most any job in audio. It's a really competitive field and I've found that even though you can be better at certain things (like production) you be stuck doing a bit of everything or focusing on work you're not particularly passionate ...

"Kirin Glass" Rough Mix
I think this track is getting close, but it feels like it needs to be tightened up in some spots. It's not mixed yet, so I'm looking for more comments on the arrangement and feel of the track. Please be harshly critical
Thanks.

Anyone know if you can convert the maelstrom audio to control values?

Re: Efficiently producing with a partner
I did an ep with a friend who lived halfway across the country. We had a workflow where he would send me an idea, I'd expand it and send him an mp3, he'd make comments, then I'd finish it and mix. It worked well because it played to our strengths.

Re: what would you guys like an in depth tutorial on?
I'd like a good tutorial on making drum hits with synths and samples. I have a bit of experience, but haven't even scratched the surface on what could be done.

Re: Using Korg padKONTROL pads to automate the LFO speed?
It was a pretty incomplete explaination
I love your idea because it would give me a chance to play notes on the right hand and control rate on the left. I'll see if I can come up with something and reply with some better explanation.

Re: Adjusting lfo starting point in reason?
Automation? Fiddly at first but then just copy an paste But what parameter can be automated to adjust where the lfo starts? The only idea I can think of is using a maelstrom with a sine wave then outputting the audio to control command values. Then using the index to adjust where it starts and stop...

Adjusting lfo starting point in reason?
I don't think there is a way to do this, but I'll see if anyone has ideas. I'd like to adjust where the lfo starts in my reason synths. Basically, when I play a note I want the wobble to start at the peak of the sine. I can take the bounced track, chop, and slide it to do this but I'm looking for a ...

Re: Using Korg padKONTROL pads to automate the LFO speed?
Ooo, I love that idea! The only tricky thing with pads is they are defaulted to note commands. Although there might be a eay around it, here's another idea. (I'm on my phone, so i haven't tried it and I'm brief,) but you could use a keyboard assignment with combinator buttons. After combining the Th...

Re: best program to rewire to
I like to mix in pro tools but that doesn't support vst's without extra plugins to support them. I wonder if garage band would work with vst plugins and rewire. I think you should look for something cheap and simple since live and logic have serious learning curves and functionality if you just want...

Re: mastering for free always!
Good for you being pro active! I studied audio and have been working a bit in most aspects of the industry for the past four years. So, I'm not great at anything in particular but I have a decent sense of what I'm doing. How about I send you a track or two to mix and give you feedback on them? It wo...

Re: Favorite Reference Tracks
I'd actually love to collect a variety of dubstep sub-genres so I can easily match a reference track to the track I'm mixing. I've never been good at focusing on a particular genre or sound, so I don't expect developing that skill anytime soon :) So, let me know any tracks under the umbrella of &quo...

Favorite Reference Tracks
I'm fairly new to the genre, so I'm looking for tracks that are ideal for referencing against my mixes. What are some tracks known for having especially good production and mastering, or what do you listen to next to your mixes?
Thanks for sharing.

Re: MAKING A TUNE SOUND MORE FULL
A trick that I like for basses and pads is to copy the patch; pan each left and right (not necessarily hard L and R); and adjust the settings until it feels balanced and wide. There's a lot of ways you can go about it, but start by playing with the filter frequency, resonance, tune, and distortion s...

Re: how long dyou spend on a song ?
I'm not sure how much time I spend in hours, but I tend to work in three main stages: sketch, development, and final mix down. If a track is going well the sketch and development phases will combine together. I typically find that it's better for me to jump around between several tracks because it g...

Re: Making disparate bass parts sit together
I don't know if this was mentioned, but you might also conconsider not evening out your bass patches, and use them for dynamic. Since it sounds like they're different tones it might be cool to contrast them a bit. I know dubstep is bass driven music, but it can be cool to have a patch without sub ba...
