Re: 5 things you need to know about Mastering...
In a perfect world I'd master myself. I accept the problem the article's driving at - even while composing it can be tough to be objective. But it'd be nice to have control over every creative aspect of my production.

Where do you find your dubstep?
Hey guys, I wanna know where you find your tunes. From appreciation threads here, collabs with artists you already know, mixes by mates or big names, beatport, hypem, following labels - wherever you look for tunes, I'm interested. Personally I find most of my stuff lurking here, finding artists and ...

Re: Future garage and now future jungle?!
imo its just a passing fad and will disappear after this year with a few novelty tracks coming out every now and then. The sound is too shallow for starters. Listen to the fresh ep, mag man, skream, chase and status, danny byrd etc its ALWAYS a 140bpm amen chopped up. BORRRRRRIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNN...

it takes a while, but it's fun to learn (sometimes) and it's incredibly rewarding (sometimes). Stick with it

Re: Production + Narcotics
To those that have "artistic hangovers" what happens when you listen back to those stoney tracks while you are stoned on subsequent occasions? Does it still sound good, does everything sound good, or does it sound shit? I've heard some really inspired stuff from stoney minds, but often th...

Re: Polishing Turds
I just let unfinished tunes accumulate, then go back and listen to them months later. There's often good ideas that I just couldn't work out what to do with, or wasn't experienced enough at either songwriting or technical shit to pull off or whatever. Most of it just sits there, but these days I fin...

Re: Layering + Kick Synthesis
I bought that Goldbaby "When Alien Drum Robots Attack" sample pack a while ago, and it's got a folder of layering tools (clicks for kick drums, noise for snares etc). I don't use them much though, usually I just flick through my kick samples until I find one that fits, then filter out the ...

Re: Hutyluty Rolling Dubs thread
The first one I don't like so much. Sounds a lot like Scuba, and I find him boring unless I'm in just the right mood so I reckon it's just me. The second tune is fucking massive. I love the shit out of it and I'm downloading it. The only suggestion I'd make is to look into the reverb on the snares t...

Re: Chilled out dubstep - Should it have women vocals on?
nice chilled vibe. Liking the synths, liking the drum work - EXCEPT for that 808. It sounds out of tune, at least in the first half of the song.
Also in that breakdown at 1:50 the song loses all its energy - I'd try a quiet sub bass to push it along a bit.
