Re: Frustrated with producing

I vote start your own label. You like your music, right? Release your own stuff, do the PR....and if there are other artists who you like and think would be a good fit, go for it. I did it. Most of our stuff is released for free, but we've received loads of love from our city and surrounding areas, ...

Re: Bitwig Studio New DAW

I love the idea of online "multiplayer" production. If this is released at a price point closer to FL, I could see it being a bit of an Ableton killer.

Fingers crossed! (for a competitive price point, not killing ableton).

Re: Studio Monitors have turned my world on its head!

Here's the track I'm wrestling with. I generally apply verb, delay, etc outside of reason, as I have more control over it that way, so this is pretty dry. But even with no effects, when I use ozone to polish it off and bring it up to 0dB, I get terrible sounding distortion. http://soundcloud.com/dje...

Re: Studio Monitors have turned my world on its head!

They're active. And I'll check it against other tracks tonight. Like I said, if I turn off Ozone, it's not there. So I think the limiter is just brick walling something pretty hard. I just don't understand why it would do that if my faders are super low. The master could be peaking at -13dB and it w...

Re: Studio Monitors have turned my world on its head!

Sounds like you're clipping something before it gets to your master Yeah.... that would have been my first guess..... It might be the synth patch.... does it have a lot of low level distortion added purposefully and your just hearing this become more apparent as you push the limiter? It doesn't, ac...

Re: Studio Monitors have turned my world on its head!

Yeah. I'm trying to maybe grow out of Reason and hop into Ableton. But like going from Logitech speakers to Studio monitors, it's not as easy as I would have anticipated, haha. If I turn the monitors down any lower, they'll be turned down completely. I literally have them turned to the first 'dot' y...

Re: Studio Monitors have turned my world on its head!

I generally make my tracks in Reason 5, and bounce them out to REAPER for mix down and mastering. I'll solo all the tracks in the drum machine and bounce them to their individual track for reaper, and all that. In order to give you an idea of how cruddy it sounds coming out of the monitors, I'd have...

Studio Monitors have turned my world on its head!

Hey guys. Haven't posted much on here. Mainly because I've been trying to drink up as much knowledge shared on this board as possible. It's a wealth of excellent advice and info. Thanks to everyone who shares! Okay, so I like to make tunes in my apartment. Most of the stuff I make is hip hop. It com...

Point me toward some decent chill/ambient dubstep artists!

Kinda like the Widdler. Not quite as in your face. I've enjoyed mixing that stuff the most, I think, but I've looked around and can't find anything all that similar to his stuff. Any idea?

Re: How to make a Nice Build up

In Reason, I'll do an instance of thor...one multi oscillator, one noise oscillator (pink noise, color to taste)....draw a note out (pitch of your preference). Automate the pitch from low to high...also automate the master volume from silent to as loud as you need it. One big linear angle. Throw a 2...

Re: odd issue in Reason. Can anyone assist?

I've isolated it to Reason. I quantized everything to make sure it was aligned properly. I zoomed wayyy in to make sure the first kick wasn't triggering before the first count, and that's not it either. I just completely drops the first beat off of the loop....it picks up exactly after the first bea...

odd issue in Reason. Can anyone assist?

Not sure how this is happening all of a sudden....but for some reason, I'll bounce a drum loop out of Reason (to drop on a timeline in Reaper to mix)...and the first beat (a kick, in this case) is not accounted for. Pretty frustrating. Any help or advice is muchos appreesh.

Re: REASON VS ABLETON LIVE

I just dropped some tunes into the dubs forum that came out of reason, if u wanna take a listen. It's what I know so I use it...I'll echo the remark, though, that mixing outside of reason may help to avoid headaches (and ear fatigue).. I like the idea of everything being contained in one suite of so...

KoftheR - One Horse Open SLAY!!!

I'm a novice at this stuff. Here's a little ditty I made over the weekend. Sequenced in Reason, mixed (for better or worse) in REAPER. Not much to it. Bassline came out of Subtractor, drums coming out of Kong...everything else came from samplers. I was initially going to manipulate the bass a little...

Re: How filthy can Reason get?

I like using subtractor for basslines and throw a scream distortion onto the rack if the spirit moves you...hell, since subtractor only offers 2 oscillators, stack a few synths and c&p the tracks if you have to...Thor is more versatile, but subtractor has a smaller learning curve, and the spirit...
