Re: kick on 1, snare on 3 is dead
pretty much any standard pattern with one kick and one snare is going to be boring. you need two or three kicks and then a snare somewhere depending on the song

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for SEPTEMBER, 2010
@sparxy - nice tracks man! im diggin 'do what your told' use of step sequencer is cool. maybe add in a breakdown or something to keep it moving. also the synth doesnt sound quite as thick as it could but still nice, good work @deniss1 - 'lumberjack' woah sweet song i was expecting some sort of inten...

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for SEPTEMBER, 2010
@krave - sounds good, but 75% of it is ripped off of zedd - the anthem (luckydate rmx) @wobbafet - sounds good man. cool drop -i like the atmosphere and the levels seem good to me. maybe make the bass wobble stand out more? thats just my personal opinion though. @oggunslinger - I like this it sounds...

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for SEPTEMBER, 2010
@streetxlite - cool sounds and chill vibe to it. I think the bass was a little bit blown out on the first drop. I kind of got bored near the end because it got a little bit slow try doubling the drums with more kicks and hats on the second drop. and wow dont know what to saw about the second 'throat...

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for SEPTEMBER, 2010
@wobbafet: REally likin the tune itself man. Maybe to get the bass sounding a little less muddy, sidechain the bass from the kick, not enough to make it obviously audible but just enough so that if thats whats causing mudiness it gets rid of it. Thanks for the compliment and suggestion. I'm not sur...

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for SEPTEMBER, 2010
Frogman, cheers for the crit, that tracks a weird one. Vis-á-vis your track, I really like your string hits, and the way your tune drops. However you need to process your drums badly, your kick and your snare could really do with beefing up. I'm guessing you haven't been mixing down a great deal so...

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for SEPTEMBER, 2010
@century - nice bass sound man liking how its cut up and rolls with the drums. really liking the part where you added more drums back in at round half way it got my head bobbing for sure. only thing i can think of is maybe have a bit more of an intro or buildup but nice stuff so far. @Olux - reallly...

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for SEPTEMBER, 2010
@mmjdw - thanks for the feedback man im working on it now. and your right im new to producing (about 8 months) and this is my first dubstep attempt. as for your song it sounds great; nicely eq'd and the sounds all work together very nicely. to me it felt like you should have introduced a second high...

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for SEPTEMBER, 2010
sorry for posting twice so close to each other, but i fixed up my track a bit and deleted the other one, so here it is again up for criticism. @the bender - really nice start to a filthy song but i felt liek the bass needed to be louder and especially on the initial drop. the synth itself is great b...
