Re: help with sub bass and resampling... stuck.
Ah, I see, you're making variations on the melody via automation and chopping.

Re: help with sub bass and resampling... stuck.
nevermind, read the long post well for one thing when you make one long midrange note to resample you shouldn't just leave it as a single note, you're still going to have to play other notes with it (unless it's like 1/2 bar low growl or something.) otherwise your entire song is going to be played ...

Re: ATTENTION CHRISTIAN DUBSTEP MIXERS!!!!
What someone personally believes in shouldn't be relevant to music. Any large organisation of people be they religion or corporations will inevitably try and use trends such as those found in music to attract people - one could say it's similar to how the pop music industry works since their primary...

Re: So it looks like im gonna HAVE to learn ableton.
I've been tempted to switch to ableton and have at times from FL, however the one thing that has gotten me is just how annoying, small and clunky the piano roll seems compared to FL's. Especially since most of my music relies on melody, ableton's piano roll is frustrating to work with compared to FL...

Creating shuddering, driving sonic subbass
Since I'm getting sick of making 'brostep' and the whatnot I've been experimenting with more melodic ideas - however, I would still like to keep it dubstep, and because of that I'm trying to create atmospheres juxtaposed by really shuddering, physical subbass. I'm talking about the type of basses us...

Re: DSF Q&A Sessions 19: Phaeleh
Hey man, was wondering about developing your own musical style. How long did it take for you to develop, and how much of your sound has been influenced by other artists? I'm just finding it difficult to develop an individual flavour to my songs, since I enjoy so many different types of dubstep and d...

Re: Skrillex reveals details on how he makes his basslines
@xrylex, what was your initial waveform in creating that sound? Is it essentially just an Operator with EQ and an automated vowel preset boosting back and forth between different frequencies? I'm interested in this technique but I know not of any EQs other than Ableton's one that has vowel filters -...

Re: Who needs a logo/cover?
That's awesome! :h: It wasn't quite what I was looking for but that's my fault for not being specific enough and I'm pretty picky when it comes down to detail by detail, but that was an insane response time! I left my computer for like, what, an hour to grab some food then came back on and wow :o Th...

Re: Who needs a logo/cover?
Hey dude, I hope you don't mind if I grab a logo for my production name, zeta?
Something punchy and darkish, could potentially be slightly 3d but just almost like a heavy dubstep logo
Thanks for your time man, will check out your tunes later

Re: Help Me Make That Sound - 2011.
Hey guys, I'm interested in making this sort of "skipping" bass from the xx's remix/cover of Florence and the Machine's 'You've got the love'. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1l4pDXbkic I've experimented with just having a more moving sine sub-bass, but I can't really get the depth or the ...

Re: what happened to songwritting?
Personally, I don't feel that songwriting is dead, but just that some have never made the connection, or have become so socially constructed around the idea of genre-defining barriers that they don't try to combine traditional songwriting techniques with producing EDM. For me, it's something I've al...

Re: Nero's Dubstep Symphony
I thought I heard DMZ and Joker in there but guess not
On second listen I heard orchestral arrangements of some other tunes, like a snatch from Skream's remix of In For the Kill...
But this is part of a promotion for BBC's Dubstep Week, so I'm guessing they wanted to make it 'commercial'

Re: Help Me Make That Sound - 2011.
Okay, this is probably an idiotic question and after this I will probably do an epic facepalm at how ridiculously easy it was. However, I've noticed in many of Skream's newer tracks, most prominently in his remix of In for a Kill (not a new one lol) you hear a grimy, earth-shaking sub-wobble. Not on...

Re: Manipulating Speed of a Wob
It should be to the left in your browser, you could also open it by looking there, going to "Current Project" and openinng underneath "Generator" and going to the parameter you want - for the LFO rate knob just wiggle it a bit and it'll highlight it. You can do it by editing even...

Anyone have any experience with Kurzweil KS40A monitors?
These ones here:

I've had a look at the reviews for it and it looks real good especially for a student in a small room on a tight budget, but just want to get your opinions on it!

Creating dissonant bass melody
Hey guys, I've been moving from more melodic dubstep back into the darker, more underground side of things lately and while all my bass production needs is practise, I'd like some advice on creating actual melodies. I've googled it, but there isn't much information on this. I suppose it's just a nat...

Re: Tips on throwing a private rave/party
The last poster to ask this question was never heard from again. Proceed with caution. Yeah are we thinking of the same kid with the forest party? OP, Dude a house party is not a rave, by any standard, no matter how off the hook it gets, its still, a house party. I apologise, I'm very loose with my...
