typically on a normal kick the 'punch' in the sub is right around 80-90 Hz, if you have some way of splitting your sub by frequency, you can just sidechain duck the bit that is around there, if you adjust it right its almost unnoticeable and still allows for the kick to punch through. Thank you for your help, I have posted the screenshots over there. I would be happy to transpose any of the resulting troubleshooting if you think it would be a good resource for anyone else. From the sound of it though, this is not a common issue. FML.
