Re: Year end deals

I think I'm going to pick up the waves ones, just because the price is so good.

Never have really been interested in the renaissance one though; it's just a compressor with less control..

The production joke forum?

Is it just me, or are about half of the posts lately just people trying to be whitty or sarcastic? I mean, this forum used to be my go to for production information/advice, but now everyone is just trying to get peer recognition through useless jokes, and there's not a lot of substance anymore. C'mo...

Re: Coki's new vowel style bass

I would think sampling/vocoding would have a lot to do with getting that sound. The last one is more obviously a sample.

Outboard Digital Synth (Is there a point?)

In terms of music production, is there much of a benefit to having an expensive outboard synth if it's digital? I mean, why not just remain inside the box?

Trying to wrap my head around this one.

The "special deal" on the iLok2 is only $5 less than buying it in the local store, after shipping costs.

Re: Serato - 2 Laptops, 1 Box?

SL 4 Allows you to do the switchover with two laptops. Must be a lifesaver... nothing is lamer than killing the vibes by unplugging one person's laptop and plugging another in. Or when some asshole before you leaves you mixing out of a cd with a minute left and the mixer was left all weird and messe...

On the topic of Audio Track Native: seems it has a shipping date of mid december? Thought it was downloadable... You buy it, then they send you a serial number - it's download only. I ordered it on Friday and only got the serial number sent on Sunday - bit slow but I guess they've had a few orders ...

Re: waves 80% off bundle? worth it?

I've done the "try before you buy" kinda thing with a lot of the waves plugins, and lots I didn't really think were worth the price tag. I grabbed Audiotrack which I think was good for the price (from audiomidi.com for $15). I have Ozone, so I can't really justify a lot of the things waves...

Hmmm. It is a good price.

But I have alchemy and massive, which seem to be more than enough for my pads/wavetable synthesis. What does this offer that I don't already have?

Re: Can someone explain the usage of Granular Synthesis?

It just has a unique sound. Kind of hard to put into words because you get a different sound based on the settings.

It's great for growl kinds of sounds.

Soundcloud adds ten pounds to your track. I find serato is more accurate for visualizing it.

NI has a lot of stuff on sale right now. Picked up massive on Friday (errrr... upgraded from a cracked version :( )

Waves have a bunch of stuff on sale, and a free download for one knob louder, which kinda looks like a piece of shit. Nothing really excites me with waves.

Re: Ableton : slicing presets + saving samples

So let me get this straight, you can't save your own patches because you didn't instal their presets? That seems really fishy.

And for the second part, you're just going to have to bounce (as far as I'm aware). No big deal there, you can even normalize.
