people need to separate 'cause' and 'coincidence.' there's no direct causal link between Muzlimgauze and the late 90s dubstep godfathers (El-B, Zed Bias and Steve Gurley) even though there might be coincidental sonic similarities. El-B was a big Basic Channel fan (who isn't) but i dont hear much BC ...

i've got a Bruza Rinse set where he gets a text from people listening online San Francisco.

He starts this hillarious one sided conversation with the US. 'so how's it going? what the girls like? what's the weather like there? here it's not bad... comme ci comme ca...'

i hear both sides of the CD v dubplates argument, but speaking strictly about the sonics , its undenyably true that when DJs like SLT Mob or Plasticman come on at DMZ with CDs... 1. it's about 30% louder 2. the sounds is more mid and hi end focused which reduces the weight and impact of the sub bass...

N Type is the funniest. that show from this summer when the mic died and he had to use the headphones was hillarious. it suddenly sounded like he was on the moon!

Pirate radio is the medium of our community: the shouts are equally as important as the dubs. this it isnt sterile studio sound recordings, it's live, living, breathing, crackling, illegal, London dubstep radio culture! if people want to listen to clean, sterile tracks: go buy some electronica CDs.

it's particularly Burials use of woodblocks as snares that resembles El-B/Ghost. look for all the Ghost releases (there were four or five...)

didn't Reynolds coin it? my advice is to stay away from coining genre names, artists only end up resenting you (i witnessed Ministry mag try to invent 'disco-hop' once on the basis of one Deadly Avenger 12". doh!).
