Parallel compression before or after reverb?

I've always wondered what's considered the correct method, adding parallel compression before or after adding reverb? I kind of assume the order in which you do them will depend on the effect that you are after, and at the end of the day whatever way sounds best is probably the way to go about it. I...

Can anyone recommend any filters with an envelope follower?

I was wondering whether anyone could recommend any filters that they are aware of that use an envelope follower to control the cut off point? What I mean by envelope follower is that the cutoff point of the filter is controlled by the dynamics of the input signal (when the sound gets louder the filt...

Re: Having trouble getting sub to audible frequency.

yeah i'd say send a little of the signal to a buss with a distortion plugin on, then cut out the sub from that bus.

Re: Dungeon sweeping mid range bass "growl"

Thanks for the insight, ArrenMog It's kinda similar to district's tutorial on dungeon sounds, though I can't seem to process the reese into something "dungeon sounding" when I add distortion and other effects to the mids and highs; maybe I'm just using the wrong plugins (fruity distortion...

fucking read it! I spent ages writing that haha

Basically just summarizing what i've learnt over my time learning how, not perfect but it's what i've found works.

I havn't been on here in ages, just read this and felt the urge to give an in depth answer haha

What a tnuc and stnuc like him! Sure it may not affect the producers, they still get their money, but it hurts the fans and the scene in general. Why should some sellers be snapping up a large proportion of a limited 500 press run when they don't even give a shit about the music, I want the tunes! :(

Re: Dungeon sweeping mid range bass "growl"

It really isn't that hard to create something like this it's your standard dungeon reese bass. Like ehbrums1 said, that thread is a very useful tool, read through that a couple of times myself haha. I'll give you a brief run down of how i'd go through making a reese for a track. Also big up, another...

Bass with no high end sitting well in mix? (yunx's sound)

Havn't been here in a while, not even sure how active anyone is here, but thought it was worth asking you guys. Basically in these tunes below, there is little to no content in the 500-1000Hz plus range yet it still sits so nicely in the mix and I have one question, how? Whenever I try to do somethi...

KRK Rokit 5 keeps going louder and quieter over time!?

I've only owned my Rokits for like 2 months and already had to send one of them off to get repaired because it was just completely fucked (I've always treated them well, I did a music tech course and follow all the procedures for proper care, never even have them nearly loud). The one Rokit i'm usin...

Almost certainly a rhodes piano, sounds like they've modulated the pitch as well. alternatively could always use just plain sines, rhodes sound very similar to sines

probably not an arpeggiator, but I suppose it's possible. probably just careful MIDI editing. because it sounds like a few different percussion sounds in there, not just one. it is a wild song tho :h: really? that would take hours haha if i was gunna try and make this i'd get a real live percussion...

Re: How Do I Make This Sound? (Sub Bass)

In the second clip i'm pretty sure its just two sine wave notes a semitone apart from each other (two notes next to each other on the keyboard). I know Cyrus uses this trick a fair bit in his tunes.
