Re: The line between raw and badly produced
I cannot accurately express my surprise at how this post has done, I come in every now and then and check the DSF even though I don't produce, and this post is usually active, good shit.

Re: WIP Thread - GIVE FEEDBACK TO OTHERS BEFORE POSTING!!!
SMOR3S- Really isn't my genre of music, firstly. I would say your main chunky synth sounds way hollow for my tastes, but it's cool, overall everything sounds good, needs some equalization, that's all I got. Quasi- this is sick dude, for real, I just want to hear this finished, haha. Mtl6- I like you...

Re: Let's have a ghetto rigged monitoring setups thread
I try to mix on my M-50s. But if I get frustrated I plug in this home system that I use for listening to music and makes my chuens sound sick, which is bad because sometimes I'll forget and start using it to produce and everything sounds great until I remember to put on my headphones. I have a pair...

Re: Let's have a ghetto rigged monitoring setups thread
Anyone who say they don't prefer monitors never owned monitors. I don't even enjoy listening to music on non monitors anymore. And whatever EQ your Hifi speakers have, you could EQ the master of your track to replicate it in 2 seconds. Or maybe you just love monitors? I've used monitors and listene...

Re: Let's have a ghetto rigged monitoring setups thread
I'll just do it here. Like I said, I know I'm missing some things this way, or hearing some things that aren't there at all, I just find it aids the writing process, but really doesn't effect the mixes at all, as I "Know" what well produced music oughtta sound like on this system, and can ...

Re: Let's have a ghetto rigged monitoring setups thread
It's all good, not mad, sorry for the extremely snappy response, especially if that's not how you meant it , condescension is a button, let alone after weathering these boards already, thus a quickly formulated return fire is little more than habit.

Re: Let's have a ghetto rigged monitoring setups thread
I didn't think you were trying to change anything, or that you care. You were being condescending.
Didn't matter what you were aiming for, that's what you hit.

Re: Let's have a ghetto rigged monitoring setups thread
I have never owned monitors because in my opinion, all the ones I have borrowed/used sound clinical and empty, and I don't work well with that. You don't 'get' monitoring, do you? I know it's real cool to read something you don't like and comment without following up by reading the rest of the thre...

Re: Let's have a ghetto rigged monitoring setups thread
i wired speakers from an old hifi to sub from my cheap 2.1 pc speakers (which serves like an amp) through a €0.50 jack splitter :6: http://i46.tinypic.com/vwwpac.jpg however i need to redo it some time cause wires are loose and i wired them wrong so i have left channel coming from both speakers but...

Yes, Still I find it a hindrance, It doesn't aid me even when mastering, not that I'm particularly talented at mastering, they are just counter intuitive for me.fragments wrote:

Preferably stuff that isn't meant to be used for monitoring, or maybe even home listening, but you have adapted to your needs, to variable success. Not computer speakers, I'm talking car stereos, busted PAs, Guitar amps, youknow, the shit your producer friends facepalm at. I have never owned monitor...

Re: WIP Thread - GIVE FEEDBACK TO OTHERS BEFORE POSTING!!!
Cm Goodman: I really like this, I'm a sucker for tracks like it, but you need to vary things up a lot, add some incidental percussion sounds. It also needs reverb on the synth, Safe man keep it up. Mtl6: it sounds a lot like a lullaby, I don't hear any trap influence at all, I don't really know what...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
Just recently dug this project file up from the dark depths of hell and am in need of some direction/general feedback, I think it's pretty sweet and I'm still proud of the synths: http://soundcloud.com/currow/nikola I can't right this minute but I'll be leaving detailed feedback on soundclouds in th...

but, that being said Kes-Es, you`re fully entitled to your opinion. And I will be honest I totally agree in principle. Haha, Someone is a diplomat. Dunno, I'd like to see anyone recreate some of the sounds I've thought up, and I could name several other producers I would pay a lot of money to see s...

Re: The craziest sounding synth/wobble from Knife Party
I will say this, to maybe pacify or right the situation. That is my opinion, and because it is negative in the way that it is, and nobody did anything to warrant such negativity, I am sorry for sharing it, that was out of place and rude of me. Dan you're a nice enough guy, in spite of all the hate y...

Re: The craziest sounding synth/wobble from Knife Party
Personally, I don`t think it`s a common base sound. I`m not a fan of the style as many are aware but I can give many of the sounds the respect they are due. Imo Dan did a good job on that sound. I don't like it either but I've got an interest in sound design that surpasses my dislike for generic mu...

Re: The craziest sounding synth/wobble from Knife Party
I don't think there is anything special about sounding exactly like skrillex and the ilk, sounds like a pretty common bass sound to me, upper level sound design or not.
/rant
In reference to danny's growl, not the knife party sound. Which is pretty Br00talz.
