Re: Anybody familiar with LetsBeFriends?
i disagree. ya they sonud pretty much exactly like Knife Party but that is impressive all in its own. They're synthesis/sound design, and mixes are so clean. I'd like to see anyone on this forum have a cleaner mix with that much going on. I know I'm not able to mix that well yet.

Anybody familiar with LetsBeFriends?
Just curious if anyone knows anything about these guys? Age, production background ect? I just recently heard of them and their production is unbelievable. You can obviously tell their Knife Party influence but their song structure is also pretty cool and innovative (from what I've heard). They also ...

has anyone tried the Ill.Gates studio template/masterclass?
i Stumbled on his youtube page and he seems like he's very knowledgeable. His studio template seems awesome and his ill.methodology is kind of intriguing. I'm curious if anyone else has checked out/bought his stuff?
thanks for the help!

Stuck in a rut. Need some advice :-/
It happens to the best of us but I'm seriously stuck right now. Nothing Ive been making is unique or inspiring. I've tried a lot of different things such as listen to other genres of music, try using other songs as a template or inspiration for a song or even not listen to any music and just sit and ...

So this isn't dubstep but DF probably has the most knowledgeable forum members so I thought I'd ask here.
The sound is at 1:45. The sound I'm needing help with is the low sub chords. I'm not sure if it is just filtered saws or if ...

Re: Can anyone give me some info on mid/side EQing
Would you mind elaborating a bit. What select things do you use it on. Or better question when would you personally use m/s on individual instruments? I may be thinking about it too hard but I recently used the stereo delay followed by m/s and it just sounds so wide and clean I feel like I should ...

Re: Can anyone give me some info on mid/side EQing
That definitely makes sense. Is it "better" to use m/s EQing on all of your sounds or is it "better" to just use it on your mix?
Also, I'm doing some stereo delaying (using Abletons Stereo Delay) for widening purposes. Will I potentially get phasing issues by using the stereo delay and ten m/s ...

Can anyone give me some info on mid/side EQing
I'vbe been researching it a bit. I understand what it does (i think) but Im curious, Is it something just to be sued for an overall mix or can/should it be done with every instrument?
thanks

Quick question about doing a remix
When doing a remix do you leave the tracks from the original at 0dB or do you drop them lower to fit the dynamic range of your remix? For instance,
My drums, bass and fx currently are about -9dB so that when I mix/master they have enough room to really be pushed. But if I drop the original to the ...

Re: Can someone help shed some light on this Seven Lions bas
I could be wrong but I think I might hear some modern talking in there...
main layer is a FM esque vowel bass, generic growl sound, panned to the right there's a modern talking massive mid range.
Fuck me that song is cheesy.
Im actually a big fan of seven lions but this track is their worst in ...

Can someone help shed some light on this Seven Lions bass?
bass comes in at 1:45
I'm trying flex my sound design chops and I've been trying to recreate this bass from Seven Lions. I know there is sme heavy dose of distortion but its so crunchy and clear. There sounds like some sort of a growl but I can't quite get it. Could anyone help shed some light on ...

Whats YOUR fav wavetables/wavetable combinations (Massive)
Hey guys/gals
I'm pretty decent at resampling and throwing on effects to get really big sounds but where my sound design knowledge lacks is knowing what wavetables or wavetable combinations to use when I'm starting a sound in Massive (specifically for bass sounds). I'm not looking for a specific ...

What stereo widening plugin do you use?
hey all,
I just switched from Logic to Ableton. When I used Logic there was a good stereo spreader in it but now Im not sure what to use. Lately I've been using ozone 4 stereo imager but ozone is a cpu hog. Anyone know of any good stereo imaging plugins you could suggest?
thanks!
