Re: DSF SAMPLE PACK COMPETITION-29

Firstly, anyone who put that "I've got love on my mind" sample in barely doing anything to modify it at all instantly gets a no vote from me. Most annoying sample ever O.o What's odd is its used completely out of time in so many of these tracks. Maybe this pack is too good, the vocal, pad...

I think its ok to throw in a track here? The tunes I've listened to in this thread are so much more my thing than anything I hear in the wips thread. Gnome I really like your stuff. http://soundcloud.com/exitblindness/never-wip Oh wow just started listening to yours @formatnone, serious stuff. Hi. ...

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for JANUARY, 2011

@ NNY- (terrible vibrations, edit 4 the most recent I presume?) Drums kick pretty well and the filtery pad parts are cool. But I'd like to hear a bit more bass in there and the chord prog is overly simple I think, the sounds work but could evoke a lot more. @ Kaya- (pre-meditated) definitely like th...

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for JANUARY, 2011

@ TGP- like all the sounds and particularly how the rhythms build up in the main section, but I think melodically it needs more. There's that riff (5th is it?) going back and forth and something more interesting could make this track really something. (Like you said with my track incidentally, and c...

Re: Actually making humanized sounds.

Trying to play your whole drum pattern on a pad can be pretty challenging, (great if you can, but) sometimes just doing your high hats give you all the necessary swing and velocities, then you can arrange those hits across whatever drums you want. This basically gives you a rhythm/velocity template ...

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for JANUARY, 2011

@ Kidstrange- Snare/clap might be a bit overpowering. The main synth and the sub could gel together a bit more, the sub is really low I think and the synth doesn't have much low end at all. @ Nylle- intro is wicked. All the elements seem to fit. Drop works, got a Distance feeling it to it, good work...

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for JANUARY, 2011

@ NonXero- The stabbing/stereo stuff is quite cool. Feels a bit stop/start as an arrangement- those crash cymbals don't help this track I don't think. The wobbly parts need to gel with the synth parts a bit better I'd say. Levels feel like they're a bit all over the place in general. @ Dannydubstep-...

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for DECEMBER, 2010

Ya get whatcha give! Read the rules sucka If only. @ Grime Syndicate- (sinalogical) It's got some cool atmospheres but I think the dirty synths need some work. Can't say too much more as it's just not my style. @ Mars- lacking any real bass. Not exactly keen on the melody/samples but the levels see...

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for DECEMBER, 2010

@ Kes-s- (to sleep) yeah really like that. Agree it could be longer, maybe with some variation in the drums. Not feeling the other track to be honest. @ Debaser- the idea with the guitar is cool but the notes cut short and it sounds a bit odd, I think on the 2nd and 4th bar of each loop but you'd hav...

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for DECEMBER, 2010

@ Eddy maw- that bass overpowers everything, not really feeling it. The drums don't sound too bad- what I can hear of them- but the hats don't give it any rhythm. Think about the levels a bit more maybe. @ Weedcali- if I was hearing a big fat sub instead of that wobble I'd say this was pretty cool. ...

Re: FINISHED TRACKS FOR FEEDBACK-- NOVEMBER 2010

@ Spray paint- there's something really cool about this, but it lacks cohesion. The kick/bass don't quite sit right. Definitely unique and something to persevere with. @ Grace- yeah I do really like this track, I've done the same thing a few times and used vocals already associated with other tracks...
