'royalty free' sample & loops creation
Hi guys, I've been contacted regarding putting together a small dance music sample pack. I'm a bit hazy over the actual way of putting this together, in particular percussion. When creating a collection of royalty free loops and samples, does EVERYTHING have to be either recorded or synthesised your...

Re: Those motherfunkin' hi-hats?
- Sweep a hi-pass and cut out anything you don't need, it'll be a lot more than you'd think. - Really slight delays, so much so that you can't make them out when they're there, but you can hear they're missing when you bypass. - I usually have the hat samples inside a sampler, and lower the attack s...

Re: A lil Sunday tip.
Essentially it comes down to what the focus point is in the track. As Wub says, he doesn't want the rest of his tracks to be built around, and controlled by, his drum pattern. Whereas most of the stuff i'm doing these days involves percussion as the central point so it makes sense to me to start off...

Re: The Bongo Thread - creating realistic percussion loops
I really enjoy percussion in my music. http://soundcloud.com/percept/percept-khalka http://soundcloud.com/percept/percept-reality I mainly use single percussive hits from online sample packs, but i record a few of my own hits too. I load them into the EXS24, and i use the pitch dial quite often if t...

Re: How To Make A Simple Brostep Bass
One minute you're getting aggy at another forum member for simply asking how to make a synth patch like a certain producer as "YOU SHOULDN'T TRY TO SOUND LIKE SOMEONE ELSE IT'S PATHETIC!!". Then you're claiming a legitimate way to make music is by sampling basslines from another producer. ...

Re: System With SUB vs System with NO SUB
I usually use just a sine wave for my sub, which means that it is very rarely heard on smaller computer systems. Absolutely bangs at a show though, and that is all that matters. Those that you can hear a pronounced low end on shit speakers are probably using something other than a pure sine, it'll b...

Re: Short questionnaire for my thesis: Hardware modelling
Just to clarify the 'same settings' that i mentioned, a few people picked up on that.
I didn't mean blindly setting everything to the same numerical value and going from there - more so that the overall sound coming out of both was as close as possible.

Re: Short questionnaire for my thesis: Hardware modelling
Easy man, so you've used real outboard and processed and compared the same audio to a version processed with the software equivalent? Can I ask what was the software, an official emulation like the UAD stuff, Waves or something else? Interested to know which plugs and hardware you used in this. Wil...

Short questionnaire for my thesis: Hardware modelling
Hi guys, just to help finalise my thesis i've put together this really short questionnaire, literally only 5 questions. Would be a massive help if you could fill it out for me. A bit of background info, my dissertation is about how successfully software can model hardware inside the modern recording...

Re: Percept - Khalka (Unreleased dub)
I would love to hear this mixed into Wayfarer - Fall of Zulu. That's actually my plan for my next show, looking forward to trying it out. Thanks for the mad response everyone. Radio or live gig? Either way I wanna hear this. :) Live, playing with Andy C next weekend in Wycombe. Just gave it a go at...

Paul is an incredibly genuine bloke, who's doing something for cheap. Outside of this, he's also helping me with a project of mine involving hardware and software equivalents by running audio signals through certain processors, purely out of his enjoyment of the results. Top bloke.
