Re: when parallel processing...

Just a thought, but why not try controlling the phasing to your advantage to create different stereo effects? Maybe I'm not fully understanding what's going on here though :dunce:

Re: Knowing when to stop/ over playing your own project.

Some author I met once told me that it takes 10,000 hours to truly master something, and that the first million words you write are usually total shit, but everything you do works up towards that mastery. Don't stress it too much, it might be a while before you feel you've 'got it' or whatever. Sorr...

Re: Compression.

Having decent monitors/headphones can help you to actually hear how the different controls, such as attack and release, affect the sound. At least, it made a difference for me.

Re: I hate lowering my subbass

Why would you add all the distortion to the sub? I dont see the point. :? I didn't explain myself well enough. The idea isn't to distort the sub bass, but to give it light harmonics as a compromise, and to mix in the distortion just barely enough to add frequencies that are more audible while keepi...

Re: I hate lowering my subbass

Frequencies from 80hz down to 60 are the most audible, I've found. 30-50 is less audible, but properly mixed and sub bass in the lower range will have more impact, weight and feel to it. So if you want to make your sub bass sound louder, try notes around the higher frequency spectrum, and if you wan...

Re: Do You Ever Pull Your Pants All The Way Down to Go Pee?

Bathroom. Live alone. so.. just to clarify. you pee in the same sink you brush your teeth in? Brush in shower, shave in neither sink nor shower, as I don't want to clog any drains. I try to multitask a lot whist getting ready for my day. I also keep my bathroom very clean, I just can't be bothered ...

Re: Do You Ever Pull Your Pants All The Way Down to Go Pee?

Bitches don't know about pissing in sinks! Seriously, the best thing to do is come home after a 12 hour shift, immediately strip and aim for the sink. It's economical, quiet, convenient, and you can get a glass of water if you're having problems. (bladder/tract infections seem to run in the family.)...

Re: DSF's 'Oblique Strategies'

When in doubt, mix your bass like a pad, then grab a mic and spit some bars. Wipe your hard drive. (I really hate to say this, but I have no other way. . .) MOAR 808 COWBELLZ!! Are you writing a tune or a diary entry? Listen to your music until you like it, then keep listening until you absolutely t...

Re: Doing a mixdown for a band. . .

poorly recorded drums suck. really no two ways about that. ask them to at least do a single mic out front, so that if everything else is bad, you at least have something organic to work with. when it comes to actual instruments and musicians, besides it being a good song and arrangement ( ;) ) it r...

Re: Doing a mixdown for a band. . .

I wouldn't rule out compression straight away imo....they could have a very dynamic singer! You got any more details about the band? how many of them and of which instruments etc? how folky is it...do they have a drummer/percussionist? how/where is it being recorded? Just helps me aim my tips a bit...

Doing a mixdown for a band. . .

I know this is a dubstep forum an all, but I seriously don't know any other places to post this, so here goes. I'm doing a mixdown for a folk band in my area that's getting signed onto a label here pretty soon, and it's just been fucking ages since I've done anything outside of electronic stuff and ...

My ex left me, and I must admit. . . the only thing that bugs me still about it all is that I couldn't figure out how to make a decent feedback loop without fucking some shit up in the mix or having annoying high frequencies. Maybe it's better that she left. Are you laughing at my ex l...

Re: Compression routing setups?

ALL about ny compression baby! I actually rarely use compression, and I usually will send a signal to a bus with compression and a notch filter so I keep the frequencies from 200-900hz clean. I find no need for compression on anything other than vocals, misc samples and drums. I'd rather spend the e...

Wub, is there something you need to confess? This isn't the first thread I've read within a 20 min span of time involving the killing of a child. . .
If you killed a kid, I bet the tnuc deserved it
