Re: Easing the CPU's work load for Production
Increase your buffer size. When you're recording a instrument or vocal, turn the buffer size down low, but if you aren't recording jack it up to say 1024. Also freeze tracks you aren't working on.

Re: Need some advice
Hmm what I would perhaps do is compress it and limit it. If I had the money to spend freely then I'd think about sending it off for mastering. You want it to sound the best it possibly can, so it's up to you.

I stop using my monitors at 10:00. Before that I honestly don't care.

Thanks. This song is a bit conventional, but I'm trying to strike a better balance and be less conventional.

Re: usher on a apple loop ting
Drake uses what sounds like a garageband loop to me in his newest single. Could be wrong.

Re: Tips for a Mastering Noob?
If it's your first go at mixing, I wouldn't delve into using Ozone yet. Maybe just work on the mixdown and once you're finished then put a limiter on the master track. The limiter boosts the level of the whole track. The way I gain stage my tracks I usually add 6 db with a limiter and sometimes the ...

Re: Police Brutality - Up
Does this mean that I need to notch a big space out of other synths to show off the kick, maybe pull down all the tracks but the kick and snare? Or do my synths take up too much of the frequency spectrum?wub wrote:It's as much about the kick as it is the elements around the kick.

Re: Tips for a Mastering Noob?
If I were you I would stick with Ozone and learn it. Ozones website has manuals for it's products, you could read those. I don't have anything made by Ozone but I read the manual on dithering. It suggests to use Ozones own dithering algorithm when exporting your final song.

Re: Police Brutality - Up
What would you do to make the kick and snare less thin? Do you think the kick needs more higher end? I have it boosted at the low end now with a saturator afterwords. Making kicks powerful is an aspect I've always struggled with.

Keep learning and making new songs. The more you make, the better you'll get, as long as you push your envelope.

Nights in Southern California
Any events coming up that are interesting? I'm into dubstep, dnb, electro. Stuff like DJ Marky, J:Kenzo, DJ Madd, Heist, Downlink, and Jack Beats.
I know about Control, Respect and that's basically it. Thanks.
