They had one a while back, hosted by a guy called Tender Ed.

Re: DMZ 8th Birthday :LINE-UP ANNOUNCED

I got there early (half 9) so I got in pretty early (half 10). Paleman - decent enough set, I'm sure the empty room enjoyed it. Commodo - really impressive actually, he got the crowd really worked up and into it, in a way that's pretty unusual for someone in a pre-midnight slot. Kode9 - a bit surpri...

Was there a Black Ops/Jon E Cash Rinse show sometime in the early 2000s? Anyone got any recordings of it?

While you wait for someone to re-up the mp3, it's on YouTube.

Edit: just noticed it was uploaded only yesterday, strange.

Mala in Cuba on Saturday. Going with the missus as a valentines night cause I'm working tonight. Anyone been to one of the Mala in Cuba nights, anyone knows how it goes down? Assuming it's still the same as the London show last year... Two percussionists, Mala in the middle at the controls and Swin...

Re: DMZ 8th Birthday :LINE-UP ANNOUNCED

Joe Nice has said on the FB page he won't be there (because he has a gig in the US the day after). He's been on my to-see list for a while, hopefully he comes up to Scotland sometime soon. Extended DMZ family...so I'd guess that that means people closely related to the other labels run by DMZ member...

Re: DMZ 8th Birthday :LINE-UP ANNOUNCED

It's only a partial line-up so far, though. Even if it isn't all night b2bs, there's still 2 names for room 1 and probably something like 3 or 4 for Room 2. Line-up looks fantastic. Question for those who've been to previous ones: Do DJs generally play what they normally play, or do they adjust thei...

Re: Who hasn't done an album yet that needs to ?

Swindle This. He already has a couple of CDs out (140 Mixtape and Curriculum Vitae) but they're from 2007 & 2009, and his skills and equipment have improved so much since then that an album now would feel like a 'real' debut album. Especially if it's that jazz project he was talking about last ...

Re: How long should a good mix be in your opinion?

Depends on who's mixing, really - different DJs are better at different lengths. I generally prefer 2 hour mixes, but a lot of DJs don't do so well in such a long format - probably because in the club they're used to 60/90 minute sets. So, erm, a good mix is as long as it needs to be.

So does this mean that there isn't really anyone who has done garage house sort of stuff beyond the producers already listed?

Re: The world of UK bass meets garage house?

UK Bass as shorthand for (mostly) British (sometimes Irish) twentysomethings producing within the context of 2010s dance music, specifically those strains of house which are considered to be related to/deriving from a background of dubstep and garage (and more generally the Hardcore Continuum as des...

Current British house producers making garage house?

Garage house is one of my favourite genres and it's very interesting that recently a few producers in the modern UK dance scene have started to make stuff influenced by early nineties Def Mix MoS house sounds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMNeusJ7D7s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9a7YzLvyZqs http...

Gonna be jumping from room to room I reckon. Definitely ending the night with loe but, anyone else fingers crossed for some dmz bits at the end of his set again? Was too sick when he played last May. Actually thought that was a little depressing; the dancefloor crowd almost doubling in size and bec...
