Re: Jack U Snare
Skrillex has said time and time again that what he's most proud of, are his drums. I saw a radio station do an interview with him and diplo before their album released, and diplo was just gushing on and on about the snare in "take U there"....Skrillex went on to divulge basic tid bits abou...

Re: How to downtune a vocal an octave and still keep it clea
My first question is WHY a whole OCTAVE?...ultimately everything needs to be in key, so with that in mind, you can mix the vocal pitch down in semitones without going a full octave down. BUT if that's what you're after, make sure the warp option is set to complex/complex pro..this retains most of th...

Re: Desembra - Bendal Growl
that particular drop growl at .27s is a very common growl. You can find it. What he's done to make it seem heavier is the mixing and effect processing. That's all.

Re: Glitch Mob Chords
1. Being more specific never hurts.
2. Chords are based on simple music theory and layers.
3. Picking the right timbre for which layer will start to get you there.

Re: Jack Ü - Take Ü There sound
IMO I think it's actually very close. The pitch of the notes are quite spot on, unless I'm crazy....HOWEVER, more midrange distortion will get you even closer, I think....

Re: Tell me your favourite game...
there isn't a single one, fortunately ;) but I'll never forget the first time I played 'Manhunt'. Not sure if I'm scarred for life but damn, such immense brutality and impact....I never knew there was a third stage of kill animations...I cautiously admit, that I was too excited to start the game ove...

Re: that next level growl
My only guess is that it's not as much synthesized as it is recorded and processed....There is such a strong mid presence with very natural spacial elements. It's like there is an abrupt contrast to that particular bass sound and most of the other parts of the track and most notably is the upper fre...

1. Hopefully we're not all being trolled here with someone who only has 5 posts to his name.... 2. IF you TRULY made what you posted in the beginning, then you're already there, you just don't know how to get what you want b/c you don't know EXACTLY what you're doing when you make sounds.... -You ha...

Re: Question about arranging
processing all the sounds the same is a great tip. Also keep in mind that writing the 'drop' section should have context and make sense. Things like let the music flow and 'there are no rules' is a way to approach writing a section with lots of edits/chops/glitches/etc...I feel like that when I trie...

Re: The Reese Bass Thread
I can tell ya...they're here. Just not really feeling it the way they used to, in an outward context. In some interview I saw/read (memory sucks), Jake (KTN) and Jon (Spor/feed me) were talking about how the novelty/mystery of it all has been explored to hell and back. That nothing is really all tha...

Re: How can I get a cleaner mix? Help!
I don't really know who's so 'on one' about NEVER touching the master fader...this is not completely true. Just keep in mind WHY you did it, and to compensate in the mixdown stage. Turning the master fader down, in my experience, has always provided me with a very flexible safety net. I find that I ...

Re: How to make your HP bass thicker?
look up some skrillex "birdy nam nam" type bass tutorial....The idea is that in the design stage, you're creating a low and high timbre of sound. Then it's just a matter of effecting that sound in it's entirety to make it more full. Resampling that shit will bring out some unique character...

Re: Dominic Ridgway - Killa (Sovereign Remix) (Drum and Bass
I think the intro could use some more novel elements to drive into the transition better, but overall this is a great track imo. I like the 2steppy thing going on in the second section too. Seems like the bells hit harder too which is vibe-y. Solid work.

Nice panning effects! The beat is really sick too!...Not my normal cup of tea, but I can vibe to this really...Personally I want more novelty and just more in general, but that could be a consequence of immediate satisfaction

Re: EightySeven - Untitled (Original Mix) [Unsigned]
I dig this tune a lot. Style is unique and what not, and your sound design is quite appreciable...But your main bass (fart) seems a bit forward in the mix and the timbre is quite dissonant to the rest of the mix, imo. Now if this is an artistic choice, I can respect that, but to me it's very flange-...

Not just trying to ride wub's back on feedback here, but he really did cover all the basses. Another thing you can do is add some more layers to your main bass and just variate the composition. But yea meng, bring that tune to life somehow...

Like wub said, vocal is too dominate in the mix...Once the tune drops, I appreciate what you're doing, I always love me some bro...but dayum son, this comp has a LOT of potential to provide more dynamic range...Even in your breakdowns my ears don't get a break....It's just so maximalistic all the ti...

Re: ElectrifiedKeys-Big Ben(EDM/Trap)
..I sure hope you have confidence in your tunes, but letting us know you do does nothing, jussayin ;)... anyways, the intro with the bells can certainly transition more interestingly into that bigroom trancey style synth...The crash is a bit abrupt...The cymbal work is nice but I'd variate those pat...

Re: MisterDee - Egyptian Adventure [Dubstep]
yes, drums need serious mixdown work. I don't mind the main bass sound imo, but then you throw in some other sounds that seem to really detract from the darkness of the tune...The yoi, and whatever 8 bit style tone you use is so random and out of context. This tune has a lot of potential but if I we...

yes. Your thought process is on the right track. I'd experiment with portamento/legato and automate the glide time
