Re: The Logic Q&A Thread
If you're just going for the general ducking effect, logics stock compressor is fine. Really any compressor (with a sidechain function) should work for this, just focus on getting the attack and decay times right. edit: haha since were talking about compressors here, make that attack/release times :...

Re: Volt - The World's Most Precise Fader
Volt - the fader for people who don't understand the decibel scale. How so? I don't see the connection. 1db is supposed to be the smallest change we can hear, most DAW's go way beyond that anyway. http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/sound/db.html#c4 JND in Sound Intensity A useful general re...

Re: extensive edm tutorials in logic?
This isn't too extensive, but I found it the other day and there are some good tips that will def help your work flow if you dont already know any of this stuff. Actually covers some of the more useful features for someone who already has a bit of experience with logic. http://audio.tutsplus.com/tut...

Re: Physics anyone?
This is a great thread. One thing I've thought about from time to time is spinning macroscopic objects. Even though the object itself is moving, it appears to not move through space. Yet the individual particles are moving through space in an orbital motion. I do read a decent amount on physics but ...

Re: WebSDR Radio Tuner
Ya being from the states, it's pretty cool tuning into some of the international stations just to see what people around the world are talking about. This could be real helpful for learning other languages I bet. But I love the sounds of all the bleeps, lots of morse code being sent, some of it sped...

WebSDR Radio Tuner
Haven't posted much here for a while, but thought some of the ninjas would appreciate this website. A shortwave receiver set up in the Netherlands is somehow rigged to allow different users to simultaneously tune in to whatever frequency they want. I've spent hours playing with this over the pat few...

Re: compression usage
I've been starting to experiment more with compression lately and was wondering something about parallel compression. When mixing the wet/dry signals back together it would make sense to me that the 2 tracks should be eq'd so they sit right with each other. But some compressors (I use Logic's stock ...

Re: The FIVE DOLLAR Studio (How to create music on the cheap
^ Sony tcfx600 cassette deck. I don't know much about tape recording, but it says it has a laser amorphous head. Has settings for different tape materials and a few other dolby settings so I'll mess around with them and see how it sounds. I actually got an old Ampex reel to reel from from him too. A...

Re: The FIVE DOLLAR Studio (How to create music on the cheap
Got a couple questions on recording thru a tape deck. Just got an old deck from my grandfathers and I'd like to incorporate it into my projects. I'll be getting an interface within the next few weeks but for now I'd just have my laptops line-out (2008 mbook pro, not sure if its a legitimate line-out...

Re: Bass
Personally, I think that although the saturation may help bring a little life to your track, it's best to leave mastering to the professional engineers. Using an ITB saturation plug on the master probably isn't the best idea. Unless you just want the song to sound a little more "full" so y...

Re: Drums in Logic Pro
ultra beat fucks with the attacck of your sample reguardless of setting..... apple confirmed this after 2 years of questioning This was true, the attack time could never be set to 0. I think its was like .0001ms or something, which of course does actually make a difference, though I read somewhere ...

Re: Why ya'll should be blessing up SubFM as much as you can
To put it simply (though I haven't read the entire thread), the internet is a tool in it's own right. Any tool, or really anything that makes any process easier, can and will be used for good purposes as well as bad. It depends completely on who's using said "tool" and what their intention...

Got ya. I've only been producing on and off for over a year now, so I'm no expert, and based on previous posts I've seen from you, figured you'd have already tried something so simple haha. I love the snare in this new Randomer tune. Is this the type of sound you're going for? http://www.youtube.com...

Re: Techno & House Production Thread
How would I go about making metallic percussion? I am loving the sound of it from the techno/808 stuff I have been listening to lately. This might be a more simple answer than you were hoping for, but I've found pitching closed hats way down and setting up a reverb send makes a nice metallic hit th...

They have a store on Huntington right near mass ave. Only been in there once though and didn't really see if the collection was any good for bass music.

Re: Moving To The US - Is California Full of Dickheads?
I've been out to CA a few times to visit an uncle who lives in San Francisco and have been to LA a few times too. I did see a lot more "hipster types" than I do in Boston, but like everyone said, the majority of the people you'll meet are cool, friendly, just normal people. I love Cali jus...

Making headphones last
It seems every pair of headphones I get always end up fucking up. It always gets to the point where the audio only come out one side unless I hold the cord firmly into my device (usually laptop). Through out the past I've always had shit headphones, but I got some Senns a few years ago. They lasted ...

Ya like Wormcode said, Ive heard about some fake bars in our area. The ones labeled "gg." I forget the number thats below the gg. You also said you take another mediacation daily. Possibly an interaction depending on what it is you take. I'm prescribed to lorazepam for when my anxiety gets...

Re: Parallel Compression vs. Multiband Compression
Do you guys put limiters or compressors on your outputs to stop them from peaking? I do, but I've heard that method is sort of "the easy way out." So would you limit and compress all of your tracks separately or through a bus to stop them from peaking instead? compressing to control level...

Re: Parallel Compression vs. Multiband Compression
In Logic's stock compressor all you have to do to parallel compress is click the triangle in the bottom left hand corner to open the extended parameters area and you can just set the wet/dry volumes with the slider. Afaik this is no different than setting up a send to an aux channel.
