Re: [VIDEO] Dawud makes a track in 10mins

Dawud is great! I'm glad they're getting some bigger names to do these vids now. It's really interesting to see how they work (never would have guess this dude would sample Fleetwood Mac).

Re: Night Slugs Club Constructions - manifesto

I really like the CC series so far and I think it's cool that they have such a clear vision of what they want it to be, but this just makes me worried that they're going to get boring after a while. I like how they had established producers doing these EPs because it was fun to see how they interpre...

ya really, if you think every shoe that doesn't contain every color of the rainbow and comes with a magic soother pouch or whatever on the front is boring then you might wanna get checked out for adhd or something

Re: WHAT SNEAKERS YOU WEARIN?

Wow cool I love taking pics of myself. I'm wearing these Nikes that I bought ages ago then forgot about cuz I started to hate the black swoosh on the side, but then I dug them up and took a seam ripper to all the logos. Now they're one of my favorite pairs of shoes that I own. http://i.imgur.com/C0r...

Re: Creating Samples

One of Reaper's core strengths is audio editing. I'd kill myself if I had to use audacity to chop audio. Trust me when I say you're going to want to do it all within Reaper. In addition to the pleasure that is Reaper's non-destructive audio editing, it'll also save you from having to go hard drive ...

Re: The things that pissed you off today ™ thread

I can't decide if listening to my older tunes gives me confidence that I can actually make good music or if it just makes me hate everything I'm working on now even more.

Re: lo-fi / rugged up processing

Use samples from old drum breaks, layer stuff with tape/vinyl noise, leave some of the 200-500Hz range a little muddy, and try compressing and limiting things a little more than you usually would with a nice dirty compressor.

I don't think master reverbs have any application aside from some special effects. Can someone saying they do it post a tune? I'd be interested to hear what it does.

Re: Yeezus

I love it already, but I'm a little disappointed with the lyrics. From the SNL performance I thought this was going to be a super political album, but seems like those two songs are the only ones with any of the substance I expected. Regardless, the production is fucking next level and Kanye's flow ...

Ahhhhhh it's been a good couple days for music. Woke up to the Yeezus leak yesterday (holy fuck it's good) and the packaging for my bands EP just came. Today we're playing a little afternoon set at Bike Fest, then going to see some of the best local bands for free at another outdoor festival. Weeeee...

Re: Checking your mixdown in mono and such**

I'm working on this house tune and my mixdown sounds pretty good imo until I put "Utility" on my master track and convert the song to mono....pretty much all my synths that are stereo-widened etc. kind of disappear or drop down a lot in volume and has a phasing type of sound... So I compa...

Re: "Panning" Drums (Emphasis on "")

Okay but seriously, panning drums is fine. The song you're talking about probably had the floor tom panned left, toms off-center, hat to the right, and stereo overheads. Every drum on a kit isn't stacked right in the middle, so why mix them like they are? I pan my drums all the time in my electronic...

Yeah, that and the Blur, Sonic Youth, and Henry Rollins ones are heartbreaking. Nardwuar has the heart of a puppy and it sucks when people take advantage of it :corncry:

Re: Having both 808 kicks and a sub-bass line?

What you could do is layer the 808s so there's one for punch and one for sub, then tune the sub one to make the bass line. You could also use a 808 sub and just highpass the bass guitar. Oooooooor, highpass the 808 and use the bass guitar for the sub. Your best bet would be to work on the arrangemen...

Re: Can you release a remix for free, without permission fro

Eh, I've done it. I had to take down the last one I did, but that's just because it's gonna be on the artist's next remix ep haha I also have a bootleg remix coming out on a label soon though, so we'll see if I get sued :P Would be the label that would be sued, if anyone, right? Yeah I guess so. Th...
