Re: How important do you think it is to stay in key?
I think it's funny that basically all the people who say that theory is not important at all, are usually the ones that don't know anything about theory and have no melodic productions or whatever. No offense, I don't even think music theory is THAT important in Dubstep production, but if you consid...

Re: Getting a fat badklaat, requake, kromestar sound.
Can't believe nobody mentiones thor.. I'm not saying I'm the authority in Reason producing, but I've heard that Requake and Badklaat like to use Thor as well, it has this nice metallic sound. Okay, so I do my basses different every time, but here are some examples. Thor FM osc 1-6 and play with FM L...

Re: The 'help me make that dungeon sound' thread
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!1ONE. If you want powerful sub, you use a sine wave and LEAVE IT THE FUCK ALONE. See tune in my signature for an example. The ONLY problem with using a pure sine wave, is lack of harmonics meaning it won't be heard on shitty headphones or l...

Re: How To Make This Sound - January 2012
Easy all, I'm not sure if this has been asked already, I tried searching the forums for it, but it didn't help. I'm trying to make an Icicle/Shogun kinda stab. You can hear it in a lot of his productions, but another good and recent example is J:Kenzo - Therapy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hEcE7...

Re: Dyssomnia - Innerverse (Deep/Dark)
Thanks a lot mate, really appreciate it :) In this song, I used a FM osc in Thor and just twisted the FM knob until I found a point where the sound would change very fast. I put it slightly above that point, then put enveloppes on it to make it go towards that switching point and back. Then ofcourse...

Wow, this one's really sick!
I love the bass, sounds really organic!
Make sure to hit me up with a 320 once you've completed this one, mate!

Re: The 'help me make that dungeon sound' thread
no offence taken :) just slightly concerned with some of the tips on reverb ive read. its hard to properly criticise though, theres no rules about this sort of thing (reverb buses are the one too btw) its just really easy to swamp tunes with reverb. if you listen to more established producers and p...

Why the neutral face?
Don't wanna offend you in any way, but it'd be more appreciated if you shared some tips (not full tutorials) on how you go about producing stuff. (not just bass)

Re: Moving on from Reason
The best thing you could do, and what I will do in a few days, is ReWire reason in Logic.
Just use all the functions you love to use in Reason (Redrum etc) and wherever you think Reason lacks features, use Logic.
You'll slowly get used to Logic in a slow and workflow friendly way.
Good luck though!

Re: What Is The Best Sound System For Dubstep and Heavy Bass
Hmm, I'd say a Five way funktion one soundsystem. Jk, I'd go for a pair of krk's and build your own sub. A sub might be useful production wise, but it really really makes the whole thing more fun. I love how my sub is like an airconditioning in the summer and I love how it freezes me to death in win...

Re: 16 BIT = Ridonkulous Production
After listening to skullcrack & skullcrack vip a couple of times, I realised they use a reese for the main bass.
HOW WOULD SOMEONE MAKE THAT BASS OUT OF A REESE?!?!
Really sick producers.

Re: The 'help me make that dungeon sound' thread
Like what huts said, for each drum track create a send to a 100% wet reverb with a nice long length (i find 4.35 seconds seems to be the magic number, and have the low freq level down really low so it doesnt get muddy) i also have another reverb send which is abit shorter and less intense. Claps, H...
