Re: Reasons why a UKIP vote is a good vote

What really makes me laugh is all you lefties bleat on about how UKIP supporters are bigots, when in actual fact it is you who are the bigots. The amount of intolerance I've seen from you lot towards us UKIP supporters is appalling; Bigot /ˈbɪɡət/ noun: bigot; plural noun: bigots a person who is int...

Re: Reasons why a UKIP vote is a good vote

I have Russian Jewish ancestry (on my mothers side - full English on my fathers), and UKIP have my full support - I am most certainly not racist, nor am I xenophobic. UKIP have my full support for various reasons. But what really gets me is this; You (anyone opposing UKIP) claim UKIP to be a racist ...

Re: Acapella extraction techniques needed

Thanks for the replies! It's kind of like extracting salt from your dinner. Good analogy lol, kinda puts it into perspective! Melodyne in theory should be able to isolate the vocal element of a tune and extract it that way I've never really used Melodyne - I know it's pretty decent and versatile, bu...

Acapella extraction techniques needed

I've searched the forum but can't find any threads relating to this, please point me in the right direction if there is another thread for this. What is the best way to go about extracting an acapella from a track? I understand the technique of playing the original with the instrumental and reversin...

Advice on studio acoustics please

So, I've finally acquired myself some studio space! Well, it's kind of a 'semi' studio at the moment, but it's a studio nonetheless and its far away from the missus and our little one - so I can finally crack on in peace!! As it stands the walls are bare and it's not been acoustically treated. I've ...

Creating an effective marching sound

How would I go about creating a realistic sounding 'army marching' sound.

If I were to sample myself marching, what could I do to edit this to sound as if it were an army of feet marching, and not just 1 person?

Cheers

Re: Ableton Live 9 vs. FL Studio 11

I wouldn't say FL is limited - it comes with a whole host of plugins that you can crack on with before having to buy any other plugins.

Re: Do you think NI's Massive is worth it's rep?

In my opinion Massive is a pukka synth! If you get bored with the sounds you can make with it, you could always try using some addition plug ins to affect the sound even further. CamelPhat for example, you can make the most basic sound on Massive, run it through CamelPhat, tweak some of the paramete...

Re: Online production courses - advice please

Cheers man - yeah just seen they have a few free 'courses' - definitely going to try some of them out to get a feel for the tuition. I'm sure the RTFM and "Just make music" comments will follow! The thing is, I'm a bloke, I can't stand reading boring manuals - I'm the same when it comes to...

Online production courses - advice please

Ok, so I've been teaching myself (with the help of this forum) for around 7 years now. Over the years I've skipped over aspects of production I found to be boring or not relevant to me or my style of music; I've now realised that these aspects are essential for producing quality tracks. For this rea...

Re: NI Massive crackling noise issue

If you're using a cracked version, this could be the issue. Not saying you are, but cracked versions are sometimes full of bugs etc that can fuck with the sound. Was happening to me a few years ago, until I actually bought Massive.

Re: How do you like my "artist" name

It does make me laugh when people claim to be an 'upcoming' artist. I wouldn't worry too much about a name for yourself right now, the most important thing if you're an upcoming artist is; can you make decent tunes?? If you can make decent tunes, in my opinion it wouldn't matter if you called yourse...

Mixing overheads- Noisia, Break, DLR, Octane style

I know this is DSF, but this topic mainly refers to dnb, but can obviously apply to dubstep too. I've recently hit a block with producing dubstep, so have gone back to dnb for a while; see if I can progress a bit further in that genre. I'm absolutely in love with the style of dnb producers like Octa...

Routing Battery 4 to Individual Mixer Tracks - FL Studio

Anyone know how to route each pad on Battery 4 to it's own mixer track in FL Studio? So that I can have control over each element of my beats.

Cheers

Re: How to make a track sound faster?

As with the amen break, I find that hats and percussion have a lot to do with the perceived tempo of a track. Try making a faster paced hat/percussion pattern to sit on top or behind your main drum pattern - this can give the impression of a faster track.

Re: Sidechaining in FL Studio

Why are you turning the knob up? If I use the FL Limiter method for sidechaining, I right click the track send arrow on the mixer sidechained channel -> sidechain to this track, and then keep the signal knob at zero. Ohhh, I thought you had to have the knob turned up for the signal to trigger the s...

Sidechaining in FL Studio

Good afternoon all! As per my previous posts, I have started using FL again. I'm having some trouble with sidechain compression. What I'm doing 1) I've written my bassline/melody or whatever 2) I've got a kick sample that will only be used as the sidechain 'trigger' and have 'un-routed' it from the ...

You will not get a straight answer to this sort of question here; reason being there is no straight answer. Practice is the key - if you're here thinking that someone will give you a magic formula to sound like Skrillex, you've got a long way to go pal!

Re: Cubase problem.

This same thing happened to me, I can't remember exactly how I fixed it but it was somewhere along these lines. There's a setting somewhere, possibly within Cubase, where you can make your soundcard dedicated to one program or change it so that multiple programs can use the soundcard at the same time.
