Re: Low-frequency hearing loss

Alright so I went earlier today...She cleaned the shit out of my ears, my right ear just a tiny bit but my left ear (the troublesome ear) was apparently loaded with wax, had to suction it out. I thought hey perfect maybe that really was the problem. Definitely felt a lot better throughout the day. T...

Re: Low-frequency hearing loss

my advice: graph your hearing - http://www.phys.unsw.edu.au/jw/hearing.html if one ear is different or theres a curve that looks like a drop in unusual places you should see an ent. Just tried that out and sure enough my left ear is still not quite hearing things right. The good news is the curve f...

Re: Low-frequency hearing loss

Thanks so much for the serious replies everyone, definitely some encouraging things that some of you have experienced similar things. Thank god the local ENT was able to fit me in right away today so I'll be heading there in about an hour. Definitely puts me at ease a bit because I know ear-related ...

Re: Low-frequency hearing loss

did you flip your headphones around and try R on L? Yeah funny enough I did, as well as try standard ipod earbuds and then switching those around too - I tried to stupid-proof my testing as much as possible. I was confident it wasn't the earphones tho because I had already been noticing the problem...

Low-frequency hearing loss

Hey guys, I'm having a hearing scare but it's an unusual one..I've come to the conclusion that I definitely have mild tinnitus already, and it is what it is, but I went to a live rock show 3 days ago, did NOT wear ear plugs because I'm an idiot, and since then I can't hear bass frequencies properly ...

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread

Heres what I got now http://soundcloud.com/coolschmid/i-have-sex-with-my-computer The comments are what vowel types I EQed. I got a little carried away with playing the first one sorry. And tribeat I love your roar. I don't know how you figured out how to use modern talking like that to get that wi...

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread

Alright this new growl-y type bass sound that I keep hearing more and more all of a sudden is driving me nuts, here are some examples: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jxoh-oqqs1I @1:02 etc. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdeEwXHVfj0 @1:09, I fucking HATE this unoriginal thieving tnuc, but again this ...

Holy....I had no idea this post blew up like this, I really haven't been on the forum basically since I posted it...My my. I read through a lot of the shit-flinging that ensued, some decent points from those who actually made relevant comments. I understand it's really just common practice at this p...

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread

Straight out of Sytrus, no effects. http://soundcloud.com/smalltock/im-freaking-noisia/s-CQhW9 From the same principle of the previous. Unfortunately, didn't save the FLP...but all you really need to know is that...plus, I was automating the modulator's pitch with a knob as well as the modulator's ...

Re: EQ Automation for Growl-ish Bass

btw not to change the subject but i was really liking the kick drum on that example beat. specifically the sub part of it. i've heard that in pendulum tracks and stuff. I can never get that sub type kick, and to be honest i don't always know where to use it.. I think it might clash with my sub bass...

Re: Synth Help! Zeds Dead

In that case, to PatricReza, if you like the sound I used in the track in my sig and think it could give you a general starting point, I'd be happy to share. Honestly I haven't listened to this tune he referenced in forever, I bet if I add a ton of distortion and layer it with a higher frequency, s...

Re: Knife Party and the Loudness War

pendulum http://images.sodahead.com/polls/002651033/5732812121_ObamaHellNo_answer_2_xlarge.jpeg Lmao exactly. I think the point of the "relevance" of the dynamics in a given genre is the most important point here. You're all right, for their application of music, smashed to the walls is f...

I'll tell you how to make that sound as soon as you tell us how to get that many plays/followers on your tracks :O (kidding about the sound, I have no idea lol, but seriously, how? I could really use that sort of promotion...) You really have no idea? I actually thought your sig was quite close to ...

Re: Quick 'Self-Mastering' Question (FL Studio - Ozone 5)

That's because mastering is more than just a little bit of limiting. Try using all of Ozone's modules, it's the combination of all of them together that yield nice masters. I like to use a combination of some stock FL plugins, Ozone, and Pro-L for my masters. Here's an example of my mastering chain...

Re: Shuffly flowing Glitch hop drums

That's just a basic drum rhythm, light snare hits on all the offbeats. Just take the same sample you're using and lower the velocity on all those shuffling hits you're hearing.

Re: Knife Party and the Loudness War

Interesting and i'm too much of a rookie to really understand all this but how would the loudness of a track reflect the quality of the music? Are'nt you just going for w/e sounds the best? Ultimately yes, the best mantra is "if it sounds good, do it. If it doesn't sound good, don't do it.&quo...

Knife Party and the Loudness War

This is a topic about theory and mixing/mastering practices, I just wanted to post it up to incite some further thoughts and discussion on this sensitive topic. Here we have an ultra popular EDM (mostly brostep-ish) group made up of legendary, established producers, and yet all of their big releases...

Re: Synth Help! Zeds Dead

Haha I was gunna help then I realised you're a remix whore. hahahah whats wrong with remixes? i think everyone should start out remixing. they really help you learn how to find melodies and learn how to work with different parts of songs, vocals, organic instruments, etc and now that i'm developed ...

Presets as promised: http://www.mediafire.com/?53nzqa4borl3dm0 Threw in the destroy them with lazerz sound as well :) EDIT: The alvin risk one needs tweaking to get what you want, both presets need layering to get the kind of thickness it is in the knife party track :) Stupid question, but you woul...
