Re: Is it just me or is soundcloud dead?
With the changeover in their setup/layout I almost never open SC any more: I used to open it daily and found great tracks - now all I get is a bunch of house bullshit and mediocre sponsored mixes. Still viable as a hosting platform for embedding, but not something to spend time on. lmao... every po...

Re: (Advice) Getting to the next level in music production
Try googling top 40 pop songs and then try finding an acapella for it on acapellas.eu and then remix it in a popular genre. 2009 - 2012 was dubstep. Right now it's either Big Room or Trap. Put it on Youtube/get it on a promotion channel and see how it goes. Play it in your set and see how it goes.

Re: tfw you're tired of hearing the same damn track
Yeah I know how you feel, i been working on mixing a stupid youtube clip into a song and first bpm matching was killing me but now bringing it to the front in a bass heavy song is killing me. https://soundcloud.com/alexisalright/purple-poniesalexs-remixdemo whatchu think? tfw you're tired of hearing the same damn track
TFW you've spent every day of the past week and a half trying to just get a vocal to mix into the track and you've heard the same damn track over and over and over again!
Y'all ever get like this?

Re: Monitors or treatment?
depends on size/shape of room. 8 inch cones are going to put huge bass reflections in a small room, especially if it's rectangular. if you had the 5's i would say go for treatment. but since you have the 8's i would flip those, get some equator d5's and acoustic foam. I owned a pair of equator d5 t...

Re: How to get a punchier kick (WITH PICS GUIDE!)
This is pretty solid, I do this a lot with samples, not just bassy sub kicks, ultimately it preserves the attack of the kick, or snare if you got it hitting more than once too fast. I feel the reason for this is because it's just instantly releasing. Also lets a compressor or transient designer rel...

Monitors or treatment?
So I want to take my mixing to the next level. I think I know enough technically to make a good or decent mix but it's the representation of the music that's holding me back. I have the KRK Rokit 8s and I've heard they aren't the best monitors to go with in the 500$ range. I can either invest in tre...

How to get a punchier kick (WITH PICS GUIDE!)
WOW! I just figured out how to make a punchier kick when your main 808/bass note is at 40-45 hz!!! I've always had this problem when making songs with basslines that fall in the frequency because that is where a lot of the punchiness of a kick is in the subwoofer space. I know what you're think just...

Re: do you have to dj to be famous
Well I live in New Orleans. I've never had a reason to go down to the clubs or anything like that because I just now turned 21. Maybe I should just go check it out. I know there's one club that is an electronic music club but that's it.mks wrote:Do you live in a city with a big music scene?

do you have to dj to be famous
Do y'all think I should invest in CDJ's and start doing live shows to get some of my music out there or what? Did it work for you if you did it? Or should I just stick with trying to get my music out via promo channels etc.?
