Mentors
Ok recently I've been thinking that there are a huge amount of people making music here from all over the world. Various parts of the UK, Europe, US and we are all inspired by various artists. I'm not sure about other countries but each city in the UK seems to have some kind of different vibe going ...

Re: Hardware vs vst?
hardware generally sounds better. most of the time. tends to have more weight or 'warmth'. but its not some magic solution that will make you amazing
one option worth thinking about is running soft synths (or your whole mix) out of the box through a nice bit of kit, like a valve eq, an fx pedal ...

Hardware vs vst?
Well I started programming in Reason over 3 years ago mainly because I liked how the synths and stuff emulated hardware synths with all the buttons etc :). I was hoping to get some hardware and be able to get a feel from it by using the virtual gear in reason.

Re: DSF SAMPLE PACK COMPETITION-31
No tracks were left out only named those that didn't provide a name, left polling options to 1 per voter as this poll hosting did not have 3 as an option and didn't want to run the risk of any spamming, cheers.

Re: Dubstep producers support + promotion
Sorry to be rude but what type of support will this give to new dub step artists? Anyone can make a youtube account and post there tracks just like soundcloud. What people really need is a way to get there stuff out to the djs and up on popular sites.

Re: Im not improving! :( Please help!
As a beginner myself, I can confirm the feelings of being overwhelmed by the vast amount of knowledge out there. The demotivation can set in when you have spent a week on a song, and it comes out sounding like shit or not like you had hoped. Thinking about the time you spent and then listening to ...

Re: Is originality dying?
Ha, that's where you went wrong, dubstep doesn't exist.
dubstep is a construct, an illusion of the collective organisation of moving air in certain specific weights
there's never been anything original about moving air
except farting which is kind of funny
The concept of air is in itself ...

Re: Is originality dying?
One big problem is that originality comes form experimentation and being experimental is usually a risk. People like Nero don't set out to be experimental, they usually want to keep there name at the top of the charts and gets there tracks played in clubs. People like Horsepower recordings were ...

Re: Im not improving! :( Please help!
Yeah, doesn't matter though since what I wanted to say seems wasted on most people.
Dude, what the hell are you talking about?

Re: Im not improving! :( Please help!
Another good tip is to not try and make every beat and start tuning synths from scratch, most top artists are don't have honers degrees in music and electronic sound engineering. They pretty much just use whatever easiest to play, try downloading massive and then search for massive dubstep wobble ...

Re: Im not improving! :( Please help!
f^$% learning music theory people, this is dubstep not classical music! Their are only a loose set of rules to dubstep but 90% of it is down to feeling. Most dubstep and dance music artists started off DJing for a couple of years. When you can listen to a track and pretty much tell who made it, what ...

Innovative tracks?
Hey I was watching an old docu on metalheadz from youtube and one of the guy was saying how people like Dilinja were really innovative with all there tracks. He was also saying if even the top artist did not produce really innovative tracks then other people would quickly take over. Is that true ...
