Re: Monitors or treatment?
I've got good monitors but suffer from a weirdly shaped and cluttered room that has recently made it impossible to tell whats going on in my mixdowns without referencing on headphones every 10 minutes - i'd do the treatment!

Re: Education & Careers in the Music & Audio Industries
Just putting my two pennies in here, DON'T GO TO UNI. (If you want to be in the music industry). Your time is spent 999999999x better looking for work anywhere you can find it, its so easy to find you just have to know where to look - big labels, publications, distributors, studios, all the differen...

Re: Mastering & Mixdown (ft. The Money Shot Thread)
Posted this on somewhere else but perhsps DSF can help a bruvvah out: I produce stuff on Logic and generally try to make tunes without frequencies overlapping (i.e. distinct sub, kick, bass, synth, high frequencies) then eq each part to really reduce any overlap. Then compress certain sounds as req...

Re: WIP Thread - GIVE FEEDBACK TO OTHERS BEFORE POSTING!!!
dial_back nice beat, love the intro actually, the main bass on the drop sounds way too out of tune and muddy though, would recommend trying something else imo. sjscar love this tune man, intro is perfect imo. can't think of any criticism apart from maybe clean up that rolling hi-hat, doesn't sound ...

Deep tune, blawan/burial influences
Probably the quickest tune i've ever made haha, but i really like it, think i nailed the drums :) https://soundcloud.com/owenedwards/wide-asleep what would be a good way to promote this kinda stuff? since its quite a niche market i'm finding it hard to get any plays on my tracks anymore (used to get...

I've known some engineers to ask for -7db of headroom, it just depends on the way they work.Icetickle wrote:Can you leave too much headroom? I usually mix up to -5dB...

I can get away with this?^ O.omromgwtf wrote:Manual limiting. Automate the volume of your mixed track, and drop it down when the chorus comes. Cheap but a great hack.

Headroom on a pre master.
Hi guys, so i've done a real thorough mix on this tune of mine, and it turned out great so i've decided i want to get it mastered. Unfortunately there is like 0 headroom in the chorus, and i know this is less than ideal for mastering. I'm assuming I can't just turn down the mixer fader haha, so what...

Free Massive pack from myself. 28 patches included.
My very best 14 basses, 4 FX, 9 Leads and one pad that I've made. I mostly use these patches for dnb and dubstep. A few patches only sound right at one or two notes and should be resampled, such as the posij bass (my personal favourite). And two patches came from patches other people gave away but I...

I'm basically looking for help on dimensions, materials, foundations and anything else you can thi...
