Active means the amplifier is inside the speaker, therefore you'd need to plug each speaker is plugged into the mains individually.

There's an article on bi-amping. Think it means within each speaker there is one amp for the tweeter and one for the woofer.

Vocoders generally, then he changes the pitch using Ableton's audio editing functions (transposing the notes), and he also uses Celemony's Melodyne software to further edit the pitch etc. Can't find the interview I read this in unfortunately, will try and locate it for you.

I tend to write everything first using a Piano/sampled Piano. Write the notes etc in MIDI to get the musicality to it, then I cut up the MIDI notes to indicate modulation etc. Not sure if that makes sense - but for instance if I want to put a 1/16th wobble in it I'd put a note every 1/16th to indica...
