Re: Application to change key signature of midi?
That skytopia app looked so promising but I get unhandled exceptions and it won't work :( fragments, I could do it manually but it would take 5ever. I know the theory to do it but I want something to automate the process so I can try it with a lot of songs and different keys quickly. edit: Scale in ...

Application to change key signature of midi?
Are there any DAWs or even possible standalone applications for processing midi files to change the key signature? I can change key signature notation in Tuxguitar, but it only changes notation of the notes enharmonically so its still the same pitch. I want to change the key of a song so it's tonali...

Re: Why do I always lose headroom when I'm EQ'ing snares?
I read about this before on gearslutz. It's called Gibbs phenomenon. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gibbs_phenomenon Genevieve, if you're using a sampler, you could process the snare by itself and then re-import it in the sampler. Try bouncing it with a few different settings and then check the wavefo...

Re: FL Studio ASIO4ALL starts crackling randomly?
Try turning off your wireless adapter for internet. I had the same situation before: things would start out fine, and then crackling would start up even when I wasn't using hardly any cpu. I would reinitialize ASIO and it would go away for a little bit and come back. I think wireless keyboards can c...

Re: Renoise - what makes it so special?
I'll have to find the post, but someone tracked the aliasing of various DAWS and hardware, and renoise out-performs them all. Please do. I'm intrigued. it's the only piece of software i've ever used where you become so comfortable with the tool that the interface between you and your musical ideas ...

boris - and I want/no sleep til I become hollow
I want to figure out how to replicate sounds like these. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gbFWdxTFP8 It sounds like tape and I'm positive that's what they recorded with. kinda low passed with tape hiss replacing the high end. I'm not really sure where to begin as far as a source sound or if makes a d...

Re: 'live' sets that aren't really live
As long as good tunes(especially when how they originally sounded) aren't botched excessively by stupid effects(if the producer wanted a crappy flanger on the master, they would have done it themselves, beat repeat "remix", etc) and the mix flows well(energy/intensity/bass vs. chillout par...

Re: potluck cntst
heh, yeah its all from the whole tone scale and the parts at the end have some 7 time signatures and 7 against 4 patterns back to back. It's all still on the grid with renoise ;p
I like your percussion. whenever I try to do that shuffled stuff, it just sounds jittery and unnatural.

Re: dark music - no electronic, hiphop, or vocals
just to reiterate, I'm not looking for electronic beats or vocals. nor anything harsh or noisy. or slow dark ambient textures by themselves. I'm looking for chords, harmonies and riffs similar to the sections in the songs I posted, with predominantly acoustic instruments.

Re: dark music recommendations for halloween?
Some great stuff posted, but not really what I'm looking for. There's great sound design but I'm looking for similar chords progressions and melodies. and symphonic stuff. And preferably no synths or vocals. john carpenter soundtracks The one for Halloween III is sick yeah. http://www.youtube.com/wa...

dark music - no electronic, hiphop, or vocals
So around this time of year with things getting colder and the nights having a different vibe than summer nights, I really enjoy listening to Dimmu Borgir's album Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QgAgfjp1UU&list=PL3B3F89C729F78E1F Especially around 4:18, with th...

Re: Reference Track Round Up
for example the low end on one track, and the vocal mix on another. You mean 2 different tracks? Depending on what you're using, they might not be compatible mixes. If you tried to emulate a track where the vocals are really boomy in the lows for whatever reason and you tried to use the low end fro...
