Re: How much of production is random?

It kind of depends what you see as the actual production part. In terms of the "songwriting", when i started making music I used to stumble across a lot of cool effects by mistake. Like experimenting with the speed of a delay and all of a sudden finding it sounded awesome, and it changed t...

Re: Massive in Dubstep

You can use a hammer to build a house just as good as you can use a nail gun. But you will get the job done a lot faster, with less work, with better tools. Yes, this sums up my feelings exactly. I get tired of reading all the "oh you can make great basses with 3x3 osc" etc. Sure, but you...

Re: Why is there such a big violence problem in the US?

Is there more violence in the states than other economically developed countries, or is it just more sensationalized by the media there and therefore more prominent? I refer to violence as a whole- of course, the systems in the US do allow for more gun crime than say Canada or the UK, and that (espe...

Re: Massive in Dubstep

I don't own massive. I made this with all free-ware just yesterday. https://soundcloud.com/tiger_widow/twisty-number I've also just had a release under Route1audio. It might just be one release but it's a big thing for me. I literally produce out my living room using freeware (and a few give aways ...

Re: Sampling Prodigy's "Crazy Man"?

Is there anywhere with the siren sample on its own? you could try layering the siren over the top and inverting the phase. To be honest I've never really managed to do this very effectively but it might be worth a try.

Re: RIP Spaceape

That's sad news. There was only one like him.

I still remember the shivers going down my spine the first time I heard "Bodies" on the Vex'd resonance FM mix. There are few voices that have the power to do that.

My condolences to his family and all those close to him.

Re: Tune IDs (Whats the name of that tune/EP/album that....)

Re: The even better compressor- and you don't have to steal

BEST was a bit hyperbolic? Maybe more along the lines of hey this compressor will chew your audio. :O Will check this one out w/in the next two years. Hyperbole maybe, but if you let that put you off then its your loss! Its not like i'm trying to sell it, just recommending a really good free device...

The even better compressor- and you don't have to steal it.

Further down this board someone mentioned the molot compressor. Its a sweet free plugin with a lot of character. Here's another free one which I discovered on resounds website, and thought I would spread the word. Compared to molot its a lot more transparent. http://www.tokyodawn.net/tdr-feedback-co...
