Re: An Existential Post About Relevancy

It depends where you draw the line. I would gladly program the next telly tubby music if it meant I could spend the rest of my life not worrying about money :s hehe!

Re: Mastering..

If you don't have a decent monitoring rig and you are 'mastering' in the same room then reference to as many commercially released tracks in the same genre as possible. Play it in many different systems and send to others for feedback:- Totally! Listen to as much stuff as you can on your reference ...

I've just posted a fairly lengthy reply here, outlining what I do for mixing and mastering - more on the mastering side though:

Re: Mastering..

For those of you who don't own $1,000,000 of equipment, this is how I go about it (I'll try to not call it mastering!) ;-) PRE MASTERING I export (from Reason, but any DAW will do!) an audio file for EVERY instrument..... the list may look like this: Kick 1, Kick 2, Snare 1, Snare 2, HH1, HH2, Sub B...

Re: Clipping on purchased music?

I limit my material with a maximum of 3dB gain reduction and the limiter output set to -0.2 dB. My mixes tend to sound a little quieter than some, and DJ's often ask for it to be mastered more brutally. I tend to tell people to simply turn the volume/gain up when playing/mixing the final prod...

Re: The Dungeon Sound

Anyone cop Lysergene - Bring It, when it was on Soundcloud for free? Downloads have been reached and there's no mirror :'( I'm looking at re-working it and uploading again. Phantom Hertz are releasing some of my stuff in June/July (digital) and will be including a mirror for Bring It as a free down...

Re: Something I've noticed about Dungeon...

I have been saying this for months now; I haven't heard a 'dungeon' track whats made me go "WOW" in a couple of months and I can't bare to listen to a whole set of it, even at a club (unless its youngsta on a good system). Most of the stuff I am hearing these days is just slow down Neurofunk anyway...

Re: Something I've noticed about Dungeon...

I'm getting more and more fed up with dubstep in general. Everything is becoming more and more formulaic from all ends of the spectrum and it is losing the flair that made it what it was. I'm not saying I don't like it cos I really do love dubstep and there are one or two tracks being released that...

Re: Something I've noticed about Dungeon...

Think some of you guys need to not take the name so literally, although it does unfortunately seem that some are using 'dungeon' as an actual sub genre label. When the dungeon thread was made it was given that name because it's what Toast would refer to the sound as sometimes, so when people who li...

Re: Something I've noticed about Dungeon...

Something I've noticed about Dungeon... 1. boring 2. largely derivative 3. stupid name 4. the new brostep 5. no one likes it  If it's boring why bother subjecting yourself to it and reading/destroying threads about it? Or is this your little quest in life? What a waste of time... No one likes ...
