Create a great drum part and THEN create your killer sound to fit the drums. terrible way of working imo start with the drums and youll be forever trying to fit in the melodic elements around the drums whereas imo its better to do the organic bits first and then they dictate to you where the drums ...

Found a great deal on an mpd32 on craigslist...problem is, the cd drive on my pc doesnt work, so im curious how necessary the software cd thats included will be (i have no idea if its an install cd or just bonus stuff)...was hoping it would install off the usb connect. spent the last few months going thru the bootsy/vos plugs (amazing stuff btw) so iv been out of the loop. i grabbed a few things off bedroomproducers but was curious to see what everyones been into lately? any particular gems i should check out?

flattening your music is a big step to completing a tune. if you never feel comfortable enough to say "alright, thats the sound I want, freeze/flatten" how are you going to make it through the mixdown stage? I think the "automaticly better" descriptor really just is meant to say...
