Re: hot pop shit?

dr luke is a beast. max martin, too - that dude is a tune machine and has been making top 10 singles for like 15 straight years. i've got mad respect for good pop music. it's deceptively simple; doing it well is tough. on any given day i don't usually find much in the top 40 that i love, but over th...

Re: Steve Albini on Piracy

Also, there is a shortage of good music being produced. There is an abundance of shit saturated with piss. We are seeing a decline in quality and an unprecedented surge in suppliers. ok i know this happened 2 pages ago but this is silly. a SHORTAGE of good music? and it's somehow related to bad mus...

Re: clams casino/flying lotus stereo image

i can't really offer specifics but both of these guys base a lot of their tunes on straight-up sampling and manipulation. just cutting up a fairly common sample and pitching it way up or down can lead to some really interesting results, which i think is the case with some of this stuff. i know flylo...

been feeling like i need some more 160 lately as well, nice to see all these recommendations. picked up ital tek's "the planet" ep when it came out last month and was really digging it so i'm definitely gonna be checking some more of this out.

because it shows they could give two shits what people think about them. Can one of the stateside ninjas give me the low down on why you all seem to use "could" when you in fact clearly mean "couldn't"? Am I missing something? Also, out to Joeki for suggesting "My Sister Sa...

don't really have a strong opinion either way on her at the moment but she has been all over the blog thing lately so it's always refreshing to come here and get some dissenting opinions. variety is the spice of life. that oblivion tune was stuck in my head for like a straight week tho

Re: music theory help. chords?

yeah you're close. the 3 chord is major in the major key. and the 7 chord is wierd, it's called diminished in major, but you can look into that on your own. chords don't have to have the root note in them. but if you want to a C chord is CEG and the sharps and flats depend on the key signature. The...
