Re: DSF-based record label?

We need a popular, occasional resident to sponsor this and give it exposure. Like Reso!

Bitches love Reso.

Re: How do arpeggiators actually work?

I know what arpeggiation is, and I know the effect when inputed manually. I was playing around with the arpeggiation on Ableton and I can't for the life of me figure out what it's actually doing. I know what every parameter actually does (it explains it on the side) but I can't figure out how it's ...

Re: This is a direct result of you bastards stealing sh*t

Never heard of anyone that used Kore. Never saw the use for it myself. Makes sense they'd give it the axe. Skrillex. Deadmau5. There's video if you look for it. Yeah it seemed to be for lazy people that like to tweak patchs, instead of making them (I'm jkin don't get butt hurt cause I diss the mau5...

Re: Still not getting 'half time'

Half time allows you more musical freedom. Think of it as putting more groove in sounds by stepping them off the 1 2 3 4 beat grid slightly. Aka humanize. Otherwise there's no benefit at all. When you're writing at 70, you're writing at 35, 140 and 280 for that matter. It's all truthfully in how yo...

Still not getting 'half time'

I know what it is, but I'm not sure the purpose or why it's effective. Is it purely for a more manageable workspace? Because it's easier to program drums on 70BPM? I loaded some track which were 70BPM onto Ableton, made them 140 and they sounded exactly the same. So was I originally hearing the 140B...

would this work?

OK, currently at school we have to use Logic, probably because all the computers are Macs and schools obviously don't see the potential of Ableton. Alright, I have Ableton Live 8 Lite, would I be able to add the actual executable file into an external HDD, along with samples and VSTs. Would that be ...

Akai MPK 49 or M-Audio Axiom Pro 49

In responce to my previous thread, I have narrowed my choice down to two MIDI controllers: Akai MPK 49 and M-Audio Axiom Pro 49. I will be buying one of them by this time Friday,

If you could vote and offer personal anecdotes with your experience with either of these, that would be great (:

Haha, I use Ableton, but have no clue how to check that. I'm so embarrassed, lol

But normally all the audio files come out as being 120 BPM as default.

Finding a track's BPM

What is, if existent, the most accurate way to find the BPM of a track?

Currently trying to work

Preferably software related methods, as they would result in the most accurate.

Re: So I just bought a Blue Snowball mic...

it's just noise coming from the room, like the AC and shit. I'll try the sock. All I'm reading is this microphone's sound capturing ability is so accurate, it's picking up background noise caused by environmental factors. What's the problem with the hardware itself? Snowballs are fantastic. J...

Re: MIDI keyboard for "pianist"?

akai pads these days just aren't.... good. Axiom pads feel great to me, but the controller itself is shitting out on me. Pads on the maschine are niiiiicce If you buy any mpd from 2010 or later the pads will be good just to clear that out. Don't know a lot about what you are looking for but you can...

Re: Is originality dying?

Scales composers invented on the spot with influence from exotic and traditional scales :corndance:

Like a Major Locarian, which is a whole tone scale mixed with Hindu Melas. I think there are still many combinations out there for the picking. Get to it, Monk!

I just read up on artificial scales.

Originality depends solely on how far you push yourself, and how much you can create with adaptation from theory.

Re: MIDI keyboard for "pianist"?

The 61 looks good, I'll probably get that. How are the pads? Good for drumming? Reliable? Or should I invest in a separate MPC?

Thanks guys. Now all I need are some studio headphones and I'll be set (:
