Re: Piano queries
afaik the absolute best sounding piano VST is the sample-based Ivory from Synthology. Also, if you're on the fence between an electric piano and a MIDI controller, you might look for a piano that has MIDI out. My buddy has one thats got nice weighted keys, its piano and rhodes sounds are actually p...

Piano queries
Alright, I've been a fan of pianos and keyboards for a long time and I've been playing and mastering composing with keyboards and pianos. I even hope to reach pianist qualities. My questions are, do you think it would be more efficient to buy a proper keyboard, like a Roland or Yanmha, or grand pian...

Re: Skrillex is a sampler
What does the color of skin have to do with the dubstep? Surely we're beyond the days where urban music "must" equal black influences. I shiver at the thought of thinking in terms of "color". Don't be pretentious. I thought Feed Me was black because Sonny uploaded a picture on h...

Re: At what point do you stop yourself adding new elements?
Just add as much as you want, but from time to time, remove the elements you've added and listen to the impact it makes on the track. If it's minuscule to the point your track is better off without it (shorter and more fluid) then just remove it, but if it adds extra depth and purpose to your track,...

Re: Bassline writing?
Uh, it depends on your synth sound. If it's in short bursts, then short single melodies would create a progression. If it's long and modulated, like Basic A mentioned, then it can still be done as melodies. I wouldn't use chords for your bassline though anyway. I can play all of those tracks using s...

I saw a post a few days ago when someone was able to make their second oscillator a saxophone wave and made it a fifth. What VSTs offer these functions?
