Good reminder of why you shouldn't always trust your ears.
For the last 2 years, the hardest thing to get right for me has been the mixdown. Especially dealing with high end and higher mids has been pain in the ass. No clarity, no crispiness, nothing. I mostly produce using headphones, I'm mainly using AKG-240 MKIIs and some AKG DJing headphones on the side...

Re: What's the point of doing this?
it has an effect on what you hear audibly. you just cant hear tones at that level. It literally adds shiny airy quality to the overall mix but too much can make it hard to listen to. Didn't watch the vid, and I'm no mastering engineer, but what kind of curve is it up at 27? I'm sure that curve come...

Re: Wicked Situation Remix Comp $900+ in Prizes
thanks man, I've been working 3 days no-stop. I think it's pretty normal to become quite fast when you produce 7 hours a day, everyday for 3-4 years. and probably I'm not even that fast hahaha. Tbh, when I think about it, it might be that I'm just slow lol. I think I spend half of the trying to fig...

Re: What's the point of doing this?
Another thing is that I thought it's a common practice to lowpass the whole mix at 20Khz?

What's the point of doing this?
So I recently watched this video about mastering on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53oGeuTZ6IY At 8:07 he says "So, at the moment we have just added some high end, 12k, some 27k!?!?! just for air." Isn't human hearing range like 20Hz-20 000Hz? How does boosting 27Khz help at anyt...

Re: OS/DAW Question
In reality tho, I suspect most people here don't have dual machines (or even dual boots on the same machine for that matter.) Damn man, I haven't even backed up anything in ages :o . Anyways, good points in general, but would having 2 different operating systems on the same machine really help on t...

Re: Jack U Snare
No idea tbh, it might be the same sample in both songs, just processed and pitched differently. Anyways, if you were to make it from a scratch, to me it sounds like there's 2 different hits in that snare, other one being dragged off the grid.

Re: OS/DAW Question
Honestly there was a ton of stuff I used to do for XP. I did too, but tbh no amount of tweaking ever helped as much as getting used to bouncing stuff to audio, turning off all analyzers/other moving visual stuff from plugins when not using them and adding slightly more latency from preferences. I s...

Re: OS/DAW Question
Just being curious, what kind of settings & programs are you talking about? I don't see any problem with this, but I'm not really sure if it's worth it unless your computer is really slow.

Re: Organic/realistic/ambient sounding but still energetic l
It's definitely the notes you play that matter. This is a really simple patch I made in like 10 seconds in Serum, just some detuned squares and saws with lots of chorus and stuff like that. But because I'm playing 9,000 Miles' notes, it sounds cool. https://clyp.it/nafk4buu If anyone cares I'll upl...

Re: Organic/realistic/ambient sounding but still energetic l
U could try that they arent bad! True dat, I use them all the time when I'm trying to make guitar-like synths. I did some edits and processing + tried to balance things out a bit, but I think that all the chopping work I did made it sound even less analog. Anyways, here's where I'm at now: https://...

Re: Cutting waveforms and transients
Where are you supposed to cut waveforms? in ableton is it supposed to be on the middle line? If you want to slice the sample without having to add tiny fade-ins, cut at 0db (when the wave crosses the middle line). Basically, you can cut it anywhere you want, but to avoid any clicky artifacts, you s...

Re: Organic/realistic/ambient sounding but still energetic l
If you want to make it sound more "analog" if u have a couple of guitar pedals lying about or maybe an amp, why not run it through the pedal or and amp (not really high settings or it will distort, unless u want that) then have that in parallel with the original. like just mix a bit of th...

Re: Best vst synth around
One be-able-to-do-whatever-you-can-think-of-synth that I'm gonna get soon as I have some spare money is Blue 2, I have just tried the demo version this far. Seriously, you have six oscillators with all sorts of waveforms (basic ones/wavetable stuff like Massive/weird ringy and formant and so on) and...

I've been making similiar stuff but in more of a dark, haunting vibe, like I said due to the scales in the melody

Re: that next level growl
in an octave that's far too low... This is really what I guess is the most important thing to it. Not saying I would know how to precisely make this sort of growls on purpose but I'm pretty sure if all people on these forums who make growls, would go through their saved growl-patches one by one and...

It seems I got it all wrong, my bad. I thought that you get motivated FIRST, THEN you start doing drugs so you can fuck up your life like all cool people (Kurt Cobain etc.).
