Re: Adding presence to a bassline without distortion

oxith_lo wrote:how exactly do you layer a sound on top of the other like u guys recommended. is it literally just making 2 patterns of the same thing?
I usually just make the whole bassline throughout the song, when I'm sure I'm about done, I duplicate it and do all my fx on that layer.

Adding presence to a bassline without distortion

I want my wobbles and basses (well...synths in general, but my wobbles need it especially) to have a bit more presence, a little more high end definition, without too much distortion. Feedback on some bass patches?

I made 5 bass patches I made from scratch in Massive in about a half hour, here's a demo of them:

http://soundcloud.com/needlessnoise/basses/s-vIFSW

The first 5 are dry, then the same 5 with some distortion and saturation. And I know that they don't have any sub, but all my patches are LP'd at ...

Re: my unique live setup (dunno if ANYONE else does this)

true. I have been bouncing around the idea of doing live synth lines...but here's my main issue (it' probably a really dumb one but like I said, I'm just bouncing the idea around, haven't even TRIED it yet): when I have used midi to record notes for like, when I'm working on a track, and there's a ...

Re: my unique live setup (dunno if ANYONE else does this)

jeff mills throws a 909 jam in a dj set. that can be done with a cheap controller and factory sounds in ableton live. juan atkins gets his group together with live electronic sound. that requires a few people who are capable of playing the same tempo. carl craig plays live synth pads over a ...

just to clarify, I'm not trying to be fucking girl talk here. I hate that guy (okay that might be extreme)

I think he overdoes it. putting 500 songs into one song is a neat idea but it sounds like shit to me.

No, but you said live, which in the vernacular I know is short hand for Live PA which means all original material.

The mashup concepts that you were been talking about has been going on for quite awhile.

I wasn't trying to call you out, hence my attempt at a sarcasm symbol. Just do your thing ...
