Re: Finding your identity as a producer.
Been producing for almost 5 years now and I'm just starting to find 'my sound'... It just comes with doing things a certain way that you find has the best results but never be afraid to totally venture out of the box

Re: Production name search/ownership/legality
Legally speaking, how entitled to my name am I if it's my last name backwards? Doesn't really make a difference where the name comes from. It's how it's used and in what industry. Someone else could start using a brand that resembles or matches your name and it would be perfectly fine unless ...

Get a job as a waiter... Produce in free time... Working out pretty good for me. I wish I could produce every minute of the day but reality just doesn't agree with me sometimes

Re: Skeem - Jah Know (Reggae/ Dub)
Its sounding sick man, you got that snare sounding better now, id still probably layer it with something more but w/e. the bass line is nice because its a sub :) the arrangement is kinda interesting too. Thanks! I kind of prefer my snares to be a bit quieter so it doesn't distract from other sounds...

Re: Skeem - Jah Know (Reggae/ Dub)
Are those Mokko samples? The 'easy bubba' and 'it's been going on from creation' are Ras Mokko. The 'jah know' sample is from a series of videos by Rinse FM called 18 Years of Rinse. Not gonna specify which one but if you want to do some skimming you could find it pretty quick, great video series b...

Re: Resampling 808s - Sub Bass Tutorial
you know the pitch bend it like, only right at the start right? to give it the kick transient. Yeah, I didn't really elaborate on it in the video. I took a section closer to the end so it wouldn't have any bend and could be tuned easily. This tutorial is just the basic idea for those who've never h...

I see you added a note in the comments, you should make it appear in the video (with an annotation)

Resampling 808s - Sub Bass Tutorial
So I've made a video tutorial that came from using ideas I found in this thread... http://dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=151486 It's about resampling bits of 808 kicks to get different sub samples. I've found it pretty useful for getting some different types of 'textures' out of the subwoo...

Re: Skeem - Jah Know (Reggae/ Dub)
listening to the updated version on your soundcloud profile... def got some cool samples laced up innit...the mix still needs some work though: i'd focus on thickening up the snare drum for starters. cheers rB Yeah it definitely is lacking, my friend pointing that out to me earlier in the day and n...

Re: What do you use for vocals
You don't need a vocal booth. You need a small bathroom and a piece of foam blocking the back of the mic to reduce the room reflection. If you can, get a condenser microphone. Stay away from the m-audio and presonus usb / entry level ones, they lack high end and have a way too colourful (at least f...

Re: Ghostwriting
I know so many DJs that have been big in the local scene for years upon years (decades in some cases) that are just starting to produce their own tracks... I sure as hell hope this doesn't start happening. It's nice to see people build up and progress, actually learn how to make the music. It's not ...

Re: Atex - Born Dead [WOBBLE] (BIG L)
You've got a good foundation here. Try adding percussion (hats, block hits, etc), changing every 8 bars to keep it fresh. Should build it up pretty well
