Madeon Synth... how to...

Didn't really want to post this because it really isn't a crazy sound, I hear it in alot of retro tracks from the 80s. I am just loving whatever it is and I've tried the whole day and can't nail it. It's in the song Icarus, and appears at 1:37. I don't even know what you'd call that type of synth bu...

Export an entire octave?
Good point. I got massive space problems though.
Throw it in a sampler. Record a few lines at various modes in the scale.

Re: Getting the low end this tight... how the fuck

I think it's give and take. Yes you can make the low end this tight but you lose the weight of the sound. This isn't as heavy as other songs. To integrate Korn s sound I figured you'd have to tone it down on the bottom end.

Re: Alternative to Scream 4?

Haha... what's funny, me not being a Reason pro or whatever... I have troubles with the Scream 4 distortion plugin. It's so easy to sound harsh or fuzz out on that thing and you don't have multiple bands to work with... That's why people usually run multiple instances of the distortion plug-in. I l...

If you can't get a sharp midrange buzz with ohmicide... I don't think you are doing it right. No offense, at all.
Agreed. The plug-in is freaking awesome!!!!!!

Re: Recreating Koan Sound Bass.. The Smoother Tones

Yeah I figured it was a smoother squared reese. I was trying to use Malstrom, maybe they didn't use it for this particular sound. I am getting closer. Maybe its just a bunch of post processing.

Love the sound you made. A little pitch bend here and there and we'd get a lot closer.

I think that sounds sick. Just needs a little more variation in the movement but I love it. Very clean sounding.

Re: Dynamics and not squashing the shit out of your master

I think perhaps the music itself is to blame also. Alot of music these days have no intricate subtleties, no quiet parts, just big in your face sounds, therefore no need for dynamic range in the mix. ive seen wavforms of number 1 pop tunes, totally flat squares with 0 db dynamic range, crazy! Dont ...

Recreating Koan Sound Bass.. The Smoother Tones

I hope this hasn't been asked... probably has but the search didn't help much. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LdUrtQEyFQ The song is the A-Team Remix. Not really going for the more in your face stuff and the crazy reeses those guys put out. I've been trying for a day or two to get something similar...

Re: The Reese Bass Thread

http://soundcloud.com/free-bass/overdrive This is my latest WIP. Made the reese over the course of a few days. I started out in reason and got the patch that way, then bounced it out into FL, put some effects on it, bounced it into kontakt with more effects and put the bandpass filter modulation on...

Re: Something fun to do

Yes beef it up.

The little drum rhythm is hauntingly catchy.

Kind of like in a Chucky... or like an alive 'doll' kind of way.

It's way scarier than anything Borgore or Kill The Noise is putting out. :) I am gonna hear this in my nightmares.

Re: Resampling

I think resampling is great. 1) Forces you to hone an idea you already had... and not keep it in MIDI format where you can kind of get lost in the endless possiblities. 2) Makes sounds potentially more 'you' after multiple waves of 'resampling'. 3) Warp sounds in ways you can't do without bouncing a...

Re: Good dubstep bass synths?

I am also on the boat of... any synth is what you make it. There's just way too many things you can do to alter its timbre and character. The Talk to Me Bass from Kill The Noise was made on Massive... that blows my mind. After you process your basses to hell, I find that your effects and that proces...

Re: What synth to start with...

Massive is the best for versatility and ease. The brostep in a box plug in. Programming is a breeze. I say mess with all synths. Eventually you will master one but to say which one fits you best is a toughie. Absynth fm8 razer great. I personally love electrax zebra and albino. They all teach you di...

Re: Experiment: Mastering and Mixing AT THE SAME TIME

So many factors for sure mang. Especially if you're not in a treated room. It is really subjective on volumes sometimes, because of the other elements or the nature of the song and what not. I usually tend to mix the kicks and snare too high as well. I go back and adjust after maximizing. I guess a ...

Re: Experiment: Mastering and Mixing AT THE SAME TIME

I don't see the problem with it. Getting a rough mix, trying to master to get an idea of how you're doing. I don't see why'd keep wanting to adjust the maximizer or the multiband compression while mixing... If you see any problems... take off the maximizer and fix the mix. I think as long as your en...

Re: Is it a sin to use others' patches in the production wor

I'd like to say... I look at it a bit differently. It's not a sin really. It's out there for you to use and it's a tool. And sure there's people that will look down but that's not even a concern to me. Honestly, once you begin to understand synthesis basics and the work it takes to get stuff to actu...

Re: Tips for getting a fuller sound?

Whenever you want to be loud... you have to fill out the entire spectrum of sound, from the sub all the way to the highs. There's a couple of tricks. Compression and layering just to name a few. In that song, the drop introduces the sub bass, and the main synth which seems like a Massive patch, with...
