Re: Sound Medik - Dirty Needles

Pretty fucking sick. I enjoyed the quickness of the track and liked it's flow. It was smooth and felt natural as it progressed. The only thing that didn't appeal to me was that I prefer really thick wobbles and bass lines. I enjoyed the brutality and complex lines that the bass ran through, but I ...

Re: new track up

Hey man,
I enjoyed the intro. It feels natural to me and flows well into the rest of the song. One thing that really stood out to me was the drum samples.
They felt very appropriate for the style that you were going for. I enjoy the clarity and crispness of the production. I wasn't really feeling ...

Re: New song from Wonka , Gazablanca ! Listen :)

I like the feel of it. It has that sort of playful jumpyness to it, but I am not really feeling the sounds you chose. I think if you used some cleaner samples, the whole song would be brought to life. I'm not entirely sure what genre this classifies under, but I think it would be sick if there was ...

Drake - Headlines (cityboy remix)

A quick remix I threw together of Drake's Headlines.
Any feedback would be really helpful.

Practicing by remixing (My progress)

Hey guys,
I have put together a bunch of remixes over the past month in order to just practice my overall production.
It'd be great if you could check some of them out and give me some tips on my progression and style.
Any feedback is really appreciated.
Take care.

Re: Dj'ing Dubstep with Midi Control (ableton)

Hey guys. I got the mpd in a few days ago and have been playing around quite a bit.
I'm curious if any of you could offer some input on how you organize your pads and tracks in order to cue them?
Do you guys just place each cue point on it's own pad and memorize them?
Also, any tips with the ableton ...

Re: Dj'ing Dubstep with Midi Control (ableton)

I thought this was a little interesting. It's a similar set up to what I was talking about earlier.
Not really sure what he is doing, but I think he is going for the virtual deck mixing concept.
I realize this is a terrible example of dj'ing, but I think you should consider everyone's style when ...

Re: Free logos

Hey Gurnumsbug,
Your stuff is clean. If you are bored and have the time, you can throw a logo at me. I can't offer you much in return, except for love.
If you can just put down cityboy preferably in a clean minimalistic font. Nothing too fancy. I've always been a big fan of helvetica if you can make ...

Re: That French synth we all love

I think I will give the saw wave idea a try. Are you guys familiar with ableton's operator? Or do you recommend some other vst?

Re: That French synth we all love

That makes sense. That is probably how he gets the chords so full sounding, but I am more curious to the actual production of the synth sound. Is he using a sample synth or is it something he created in massive or some other vst?

Re: Dj'ing Dubstep with Midi Control (ableton)

Thanks for all of the tips. I am still currently waiting for my mpd to get in, but once it does I am sure I will hit everyone up with more questions.
I think I am going for a set up similar to that of xrylex's and blinx's. The ill gates template seems like a great place to start.

That French synth we all love

Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to create a hard hitting french synth.
I am looking into something similar to a deadmau5 and justice feel.

Re: Dj'ing Dubstep with Midi Control (ableton)

I understand how using ableton to just mix between A and B is a bit cheap, but I think it is a good place to start practicing at. I feel like ableton is a powerful tool and someone could use it to really put on a show.
In this video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pinSdI8gzq4, ill gates is on to an ...

Re: Dj'ing Dubstep with Midi Control (ableton)

Deadmau5's set up is just too crazy.
When you guys say "prepare sets," I doubt you guys mean to arrange the order of tracks in ableton's arrangement view and have all fading and mixing prepared, while just adding some fx? That seems like cheating.
Unless you guys mean to prepare which tracks you ...

Re: Dj'ing Dubstep with Midi Control (ableton)

Thanks for the tips. As for the headphones, I'm just working with a smaller budget and can't put together the funds for a soundcard that can have multiple outputs, but I understand is is extremely essential for dj'ing so I will have to find a way to make that work. As for Skrillex, I agree. It was ...

Dj'ing Dubstep with Midi Control (ableton)

Hello everyone,
I am new to the forum and have been searching around a bit for some help with an ableton midi control workflow.
I can't seem to figure out the most efficient way to DJ through a set of dubstep tracks with a midi control, such as the mpd24 or trigger finger.
I'm not having issues with ...
