Re: The Ableton Q&A Thread

If you suck at making something sound good in a certain DAW that's your problem, not the DAW's. Absolutely! So many people blame a bad sound on the program's and pluggins. The fact is that any DAW can and has been used to create hit music in various genres of music. A bad workman and all that...

Re: New "Dubstep" Maschine exspansion pack

Fair enough, everyone has their own way of working. One final thought from me on why labelling sample packs this way is useful, is that it gives the customer an idea of what to expect from the product. If I buy a sample pack labeled "Dubstep" then I would expect a bunch of synthetic "...

Re: New "Dubstep" Maschine exspansion pack

Yes you can, and great things can often come from using samples originally intended for other purposes. But you seemed to be arguing that categorising something by genre is "stupid". I'm arguing that it isn't, because it allows you to keep your sample library organised and allows you to lo...

Re: New "Dubstep" Maschine exspansion pack

That's a bit of a silly thing to say. Like it or not, there are trends in the types of sounds used in various genres of music and it's helpful to have sample packs geared towards those trends. Also, you need forms of categorisation so that you can locate the right sound for the job quickly and easil...

Try having a little play with the phases of the oscillators and maybe adjust the number of voices as well.

New "Dubstep" Maschine exspansion pack

http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/products/producer/maschine-expansions/drop-squad/?type=99 Finally NI have released an exspansion pack that isn't intended for either Hip Hop or Techno. It looks quite interesting. Apparently the kits are made up half of samples and half Massive patches which me...

Re: How To Sound Like Skrillex & Make Skrillex Bass

skrillex didnt make the SMANS growl his stuff sounds comparatively amateur (but much better imo) since he's dropped off mau5trap, so it probably was one of them. or they hired hollywood sound designers for it (which wouldnt be a bad thing imo, i'd totally do it) anyway, he didnt make it. and the sc...

Re: Resampling Reese Tutorial

Nice little tutorial. Learned a couple of new things. I never thought of detuning a sample by playing two notes next to each other. Also never really Eqed out frequencies around 200-250 Hz, i've always notched out higher frequencies (around 500 Hz), so there are a couple of things here that i'm goin...

Re: How To Sound Like Skrillex & Make Skrillex Bass

Why do all other growl sounds that aren't the one used in Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites suck so much compared to it? They sound dull and amateur, even the latest Skrillex tracks suck compared to the one used on that track. I think we will never know how in hell he came up with that sound. No one ...

Late to the party-Finally discovered "Modern Talking"!

Dammit, I finally seen what all the fuss is about and it's already been rinsed! :? I played with it a couple of years ago when people first started talking about it and managed to get some vowel sounds out of it. I also saw a couple of YouTube videos where people made some "yoi" bass sound...

I read somewhere (possibly DOA) that chasing shadows used Reason for this remix and in particular used the amp/cabinet sims to create the distortion for the bass sounds.

Re: Neurofunk Basslines

definitly interesting to come from a neurofunk background, get into dubstep and wait and hope for more neuro vibes in dubstep then watch new people get into neurofunk through the dubstep influenced by it..... its all a big circle and really cool, its all just cool sounds. Yup, same here. :t: A lot ...
